2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
Time to kick off what should be a pretty weird hot stove season with the CBA uncertainty. Padres and Mets have Manager openings and Boone probably isn’t far behind. Any other managers in danger?Tags: None -

Apparently Epstein is not interested in the Mets job.
If not Beane, then who?

Wow - after going with two untested manager (Andy Green/Jayce Tingler) they are going the re-tread route. I love Ron Washington with Atlanta and hope he stays, but if the Padres give him another opportunity I'm happy for him."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
That’s an interesting list, Schowalter, Bochy, and Washington all seem like a 180 from the typical modern manager where they’re just doing what the front office tells them. I’d love to see the Mets bring in someone like that but it will never happen with Sandy Alderson in chargeComment

Apparently Ron Washington was in the final two when they took Jayce Tingler a couple of seasons ago.
Bruce Bochy says he hasn't been contacted, but expressed interest to come back if it meant managing the Padres.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Word is Brad Ausmus is the leading candidate to be the Mets manager; he finished #2 in 2018 when Mets went with Callaway.

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
The Mets are such a mess right now. Their GM is on leave until his DUI is resolved in December and they are supposedly hiring a President of Baseball Ops, so hiring a manager before a President is hired and then having the President want his own manager would be the most Mets thing possibleComment

Jays with interesting but somewhat vague statement today about free agency.
Basically stating that even if they don't re-sign their own FA, they could end up upgrading at those positions.
Would be hard to upgrade from an MVP and Cy Young candidate, but we'll see. Jose Ramirez was a name they were real interested in. Price would be real high, so we'll see. But Ramirez being added to that team even if they lose Semien would be big. He would have 40HR potential in Toronto while playing a position of need.Comment

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
New report saying Jays payroll could be about 180m if needed. They were at 150m last year which included over 25m in "dead salary". So this would be a significant bump, putting them in the top 10, maybe even borderline top 5.
Bittersweet part of offseason, all these big names would be rumored to be heading to the Jays because agents know they have money.
At least we can be confident they will spend.Last edited by Majingir; 10-19-2021, 08:03 AM.Comment
