NHL22 'Abyss sliders' - The gap between Pro and All Star

These sliders are aimed at that gap between Pro (too easy on default) and All Star (ping pong perfect AI). They worked well on NHL21 and seem to be doing ok on 22. The game is somewhat similar in many ways.

Change the following values. All other settings/sliders remain on default. Set your game level to Pro before making changes.

    Settings:

Game Style: Custom (I rename my saved style NHL22)
    Post Whistle Rules: Authentic
    Fighting: 2/2
    Injuries: On
    Penalties: 4/4
    Period Length: 6 minutes
    Difficulty: Pro
    Penalty Time Scaling: 0/6
    Coincidental Scaling: 0/6

I've kept time scaling low as you will see an accurate number of powerplays per game.

    General:

    Game Speed: 3/6 (default)
Injury Occurrence: 65 (for realism) or 50 (default)

    Goalies:

    Cover Frequency: 50
Goalie Cross Crease Reaction: CPU 90/Human 85
Goalie Save Reaction Time: CPU 90/Human 85
Goalie Deflection Reaction: CPU 90/Human 85
Goalie Screen Effect: CPU 50/Human 50
Goalie Screen Persistence: CPU 50/Human 50

    Shooting:

One timer accuracy down to 40 for human and cpu
Slap shot accuracy down to 35 for human and cpu

    Checking

Hitting power down to 25 for player and cpu

    Penalties:

    CPU Penalties: 95
    CPU Teammate: 95
    Tripping: 95/95
    Slashing: 95/95
    Elbowing: 95/95
    High Sticking: 95/95
    Cross Checking: 95/95
    Boarding: 95/95
    Charging: 95/95
    Delay of Game: 65/65
    Holding: 95/95
    Hooking: 95/95
    Interference: 95/95

    AI:

    AI Learning: 6/6
    CPU Difficulty Adjustment: 6/6
    CPU Adjustment Strategy: 3/6
    User Adjustment Strategy: 3/6

I feel exactly the same way,I hate having to play a perfect game to win.Almost impossible to score on a clear shot.I do the same to my sliders with cpu difficulty maxed.I find it harder to win but cpu gets very few shots. Don't what to handicap cpu or user. How do we gets more shots from cpu.Good work on your sliders.

Not getting the cpu to shoot enough.

My first game on these sliders versus Montreal (I was Buffalo).

          Outshot 32-19 (I won 4-1)

You need to play 10/15 games to get a good sample size.

Also bare in mind these sliders are based around my skill level (I find All Star too hard and Pro too easy). They won't work if your skill level is a little better or worse than mine.

I'm going to try your settings, mine were almost the same except for goalies.Allstar is too hard and Pro too easy.Same as you.

Gonna try these tonight. It blows my mind that it's this way every single year. Gameplay on Pro is smooth. Animations play out nicely and there is just a great flow to the game. It's just waaaaaay too easy.

All Star is a mess. It's not that it's too hard even, I can still win most the time but it's sloppy as hell. It's really just hammer pucks at the net and hope something goes in. Forget flow. Forget cycling.

I tried going a similar route. I upped goalies to 75 across the board. The biggest difference is I changed pass accuracy/receptions etc to a lot lower and the game was definitely way harder but it also sucked out all the fun I was having.

Gonna give these a go and hope I can find a balance between harder/fun.

Isn't it frustrating, I spent the first 2 months last year trying to find the right difficulty.Even with these sliders its way to easy.My last game I out shot them 28 to 5 in the first period.Superstar seems easier than Allstar. Not sure what to do. Don't want to edit every frigging slider to give the cpu an advantage.Frustrating.

These sliders are great so far. I was having the same issues as the opening post. Pro too easy All Star I needed a perfect game just to compete.

I've played 2 games so far and won 3-2 and 6-4 with an Empty Net goal after being down 4-2. So far so good.

As an offline only player it took me awhile to find settings that made the game play like hockey with NHL21. I'm gonna finally start my NHL22 experience using those same and see how it rolls, though I suspect something will go haywire, so am inputting these guys as a backup place to start tweaking again. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Seeing a lot of injuries at 65, leave at that if you want more realism or reduce back to 50 for normal EA NHL levels

Played my first game. A lot of fun, won 4-1 but the pace was quick and every goal felt earned!
