The next-gen version is absolutely beautiful from the true broadcast cam.

Not just next gen. I’m using PS4 pro and I could see a huge difference, I feel like I’m playing PS5 version as well lol. It just really pops especially the ice, the lighting and it plays smoother I find.

Though I do notice the uniforms and helmet colours are different on some. Leafs (my team dammit!), Canucks (Vancouver and Abbotsford) and the Jets are 3 that comes to mind. Hopefully the next update will fix them.

The color palette is absolutely embarrassing. Center ice logos are neon. The crowd is too dark. All of the colors just look horrible in HDR. And, no. It's not my tv. Madden looks fantastic.

very similar initial impression with the color palette; turned down my tv’s color slider to like 44 and found it helped a bit.
          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Is it just me, or do the fans look nothing like next gen?

And yes, some of the center ice logos look horrible. Take a look at Nashvilles, the yellow is awful, and the logo itself looks like it was cut out with ms paint or something.

I found the graphics are amazing, colours are off in some areas. Once they get them right.. it’ll definitely be an eye opener! I found the contrast to be much better. Playing for some teams on the ice in previous versions I found was hard on my eyes, lots of glaring but now it’s more crisp and realistic.

Just played Be A Pro over the weekend and what an absolute POS this mode is. It's exactly the same as last year with the same stupid coach/player interviews that have zero impact on anything. Why did they even bother wasting space for this mode if they will just copy and paste the same exact crap from last year...

I enjoy the game, but I wouldn’t call it a successful transition for sports.

Madden-has it flaws but the feel and look was noticeable.
                  2K- Really was eye opening.
MLB- it didn’t hit initially but I ended up seeing so many little things and changes I became a fan.

this game looks and feels like them all. The tweaks to sliders make it feel amazing though. Didn’t really play 2021 so I may have some bias. I’m a fan, but compared to the others from a graphical perspective it’s a let down.

Be a Pro has its pastes, to be sure, but I'm getting a lot more (and different!) off ice events.  And the way the specializations are handled, DID get a complete overhaul:  specialties are now quest line rewards, rather than a separate bank of attribute points.

EA was not going to re-invent the mode on a 12-month development cycle, while simultaneously overhauling the engine.  That would have been nearly impossible for their studio size.  They took what worked in BAP last year, and added more to it, which isn't exactly unheard of in this space.  Even the best career modes will occasionally go for evolution over revolution.  So for me, that's not a deal breaker, this year.

All of this is not to say that I actually LIKE that they went this route:  it's just, "meh."  I can kinda sorta understand why they did it, we're coming off a full revamp from last year, and they did have other irons in the fire.  So for me, this will pass muster, this time.

Those CaT sleeve numbers and nameplates would beg to differ. Same with the glaring offline frame rate issue that hasn't been resolved. AI almost untouched for another year. True equipment still missing, definitely a limp out of the barn transition, but at least the entire horse is here unlike last transition I guess.
