FIFA 22 World Cup in FIFA 23

I know it's a year away and the World Cup will be next Fall/Winter as opposed to the traditional summer time due to the extreme weather of Qatar but will there be a World Cup game next year or will it be DLC?
When FIFA 18 released the World Cup DLC the game would crash if selecting all 32 clubs on matchday 2. A patch came out afterwords and fixed this but sadly when you left World Cup mode all custom rosters/stadium names were reverted back to Default.

With no FIFA deal it'll be interesting to see how this is handled. I doubt a separate game would happen either way with it taking place only 2 months after release.

It's been a long time since they really cared about the WC license, so I doubt this will mean much. And with it in Qatar, no way they'd bother with recreating all those stadiums when they'd only be for that game, right?

My guess is they'll do special FUT world cup cards, if allowed, and some special stuff for FUT but that's it.

In the end, if it's not relevant to FUT, which the WC license mostly isn't, they're not really bothered about it.

Anyone heard anything on this yet? I don't expect a stand alone game if they didn't do one in 2018, but I can hope...

Hopefully EA loses the World Cup license and Konami or 2K (who have been rumored to be in the mix to make a new game) make a stand alone WC game like back in the day. The 2018 World Cup dlc in FIFA 18 just didn't feel right compared to the great WC 2014 version. It would be a great way for 2K to jump start a football franchise when they only have to concentrate on a proper World Cup game with just national teams.

PS-I still can't believe FIFA is going through with a winter World Cup in Qatar. The whole point of the World Cup was to have it in June when players/leagues were over and on break. Now they'll shutdown the biggest leagues in the middle of the season lol Goes to show you how greedy FIFA (players and leagues as well since they agreed to this) truly is. They'd host the World Cup on Mars if someone paid them enough dough.

My 15 year old son and I are creating our own World Cup this June to be played in the USA like it should have been without the bribes in 2010 for Qatar. We are using FIFA 21 because of the abundance of National Teams in the game. We are doing mini qualifiers for UEFA and CONMEBOL and then we will do our own draw in May and set up stadiums (Mostly MLS) based on Groups. I have Gloryland playing in my head!

Geez I feel stupid now for asking the question. I had NO idea that they stripped away the national team selections!! Only 33 teams??

In 2023 hopefully they will have the World Cup in the game and also have proper kits for the National Teams in the game that didn't qualify (Italy). My only concern will be that in 18 when they added the World Cup DLC, all custom squads/stadium renames were reverted back to default after you left World Cup mode. Hopefully that doesn't happen in 23. Also when the 18 DLC came out the game crashed on matchday 2 (similar to Champions League bug) but they did release a patch that fixed it to where you could control all 32 nations in the World Cup.

What do you mean by squads to default? I recently played FIFA 18 WC mode (on the Series X) and it still has all the licensed players, teams, kits, stadiums and everything that it released with.

In FIFA 18 after the World Cup DLC came out the game crashed on matchday 2 (similar to champions league/custom tournaments crashing in 20 & 21). A patch was added to correct this however after you got out of World Cup mode all current club squads were set back to default game 1 squads plus all renamed stadiums were also set back to default. This was on PS4 version.
