It supposedly "guides" the player to the ball carrier in terms of tackling and interceptions. I used this in conjunction with the L1 button I believe where the player automatically goes towards the ball carrier in past maddens, but they jacked it up this year. It now automatically plays man coverage straying from the ball carrier.

I find both useless in this year's Madden tbh.
