I Loved NHL 2016 and NHL 2014 and NHL 2020 and NHL 2021 and NHL 2022.

I actually won the cup in NHL 2016, with Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, in Franchise Mode, but we won it like 1-3 Seasons Afterwards In NHL 2016, I actually had the chance to re-build Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose.

we went 54-27-4 (NHL) Season, Playoffs: 16-4 (NHL)
AHL we went : 53-27-7 (AHL) Season, Playoffs: 16-3 (AHL)

in NHL we Beat Out Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 in Series
in AHL we Beat Out Norfork Admirals 4-2 in Series

anyways NHL 16 by me was declared the best =p

Impossible question. This has no answer.

Watch Youtube videos of the gameplay and read reviews from the time. You won't get anything but personal opinions asking people this. What I say will be different from what others say and where does that leave you? Also, what does "best" mean to you? I bet it means something different to every single person that replies to you? NHL has no NFL2K5. That's all I can tell you.

NHL 08 I think it was the second year the skill stick came out. I skipped NHL 2005,2006 and 2007. It was the skill stick that got me back when I was at my brothers house his step son was playing NHL 07 I thought how are the controls different played it once and I was hooked!
It also helped the Red Wings won the cup that year too

Love the PS3 era when custom music was in the game. Just made the game feel better, better game announcers, the game felt and played good with some slider tweaks, and during that time, I also played EASHL regularly with a good group of guys...

But the custom music was what made the game my favorite (I would say NHL 12 if I had to pick one)... I had every NHL Arena authentic, I mean I bet I had over 600 ditties and arena specific, it was just awesome... Franchise wasn't as deep, but it was fun. It only lacked the ECHL for me back then, then they finally added the ECHL in the PS4 version and it watered down a great game on PS4 gen... I almost went back to the PS3 gen for that reason.

I keep telling myself I am going to crack my old PS3 out and put it in the bedroom (though my wife would kill me), I will use the excuse it has blue ray, but it would be for NHL 12, Tiger Woods Masters Edition, NCAA Football 14 and NCAA Basketball 10...

Personally love NHL 19 just because of the insane NBC Broadcast presentation package. NHL 19-21 I believe all had it and were great games.

I personally love this years gameplay, but presentation it has to be near the bottom of any NHL. If they can repair that, we'll be looking good.

Nhl 22 ! Hands down because of roster share I'm able to play many past great seasons of the 90s and I think the gameplay though challenging to find your sweet spot is fun and improved.

NHL 2004 was my favorite, but when I tried playing it recently it honestly hasn't aged well. I think the newer versions are very underrated when it comes to gameplay.
