I'm glad they addressed this because boooooy people were ready to burn EA to the ground! Well, more than they already are anyway [emoji23] sometimes you have to address rumors and such because if you don't that could lead to things you don't want happening especially in the information age we live in.

Phew! This is a relief to see. I bought into the rumor and as an offline-franchise-only guy it was super frustrating. I’ll walk back my criticisms I posted toward EA on this issue. My bad EA.

It’s been a decade since they’ve done anything major with offline franchise like this. Seriously. It will probably be a long time again after they’re finished with whatever updates they do this year, so it was frustrating thinking they were just gonna switch gears to NCAA development. It’s good to know we’ll still get some more updates like we thought were coming. I’m glad they addressed the rumor.

Now if only they would fix chronic simulation stat issues (like FG % on CPU teams are off, or scrambling QB’s never having nearly enough run attempts, as examples). If they fix that stuff and fix progressive fatigue we would really be on to something here! The assistant coach stuff is pretty cool and long over due. Keep up the love for solo franchise mode EA! Yay franchise stuff!

Like how the community is keeping the pressure on them to deliver on franchise and not to downprioritize it like in the past. Should 100% keep the pressure on them going into M23 also. There is a ton of franchise debt needing accounting for that was ignored for almost a decade...

I still stand by everything I said in the prior topic. EA does not care about Franchise mode and whatever these two crumbs of content they plan on delivering will probably be laughable.

Also, in light of such an error that really rallied the community against them, it sure would have been nice and really stuck it to the "haters" if they could have offered anything more substantial than "yeah, we'll start talking about those other two updates in 2022".

I know some people at SGO. And they are good guys, but stuff like this is piss poor journalism. All what was from an "unnamed source" caused a meltdown on OS and the sports gaming community.

This is why gamers hate gaming journalists. As a long-time gaming journalist, I myself, and being with OS, I know for a fact neither I, nor OS would ever be so irresponsible in reporting such big news that this turned out to not be just from a source. This stuff needs to be verified at the very least.

So Kudos to OS brass (who are the best) for not jumping in on this as an actual news reports. And kudos to EA for addressing it.

Hopefully SGO also learns a lesson here. This may have just killed any credibility they had left. Sorry SGO.

I believed the story too. I trusted SGO wouldn't have released something that they didn't have absolute proof of. I was wrong. People can say EA is just back tracking all day long but truthfully most didn't even remember that 2 more franchise mode updates were supposed to be coming and the story had no actual proof. So until EA doesn't actual give the two updates there should be no reason to believe the contrary. I will no longer trust SGO's breaking stories. Unless more information possibly comes out at least.

I would love to hear SGO comment on this. But either way, they were wrong, and shouldn't have reported on it unless they knew they were right.

If they were misinformed and led to believe what they said was right, then they should let that be a lesson to never report something unless they can confirm it.

What they reported as fact, was something very important to a lot of gamers, and to the industry itself. What was most likely irresponsible journalism, caused quite an uproar in the gaming community.

Either way, they were wrong. And going forward, need to be better if they hope to continue to have an audience.

The cynic in me thinks that SGO was right and they don't wanna lose any Christmas sales and at best the new additions will be reworked draft logic for qbs and 5th year options which is needed but also probably still buried in the code from last year.
