Now this feels like a Leafs game.

Up 4-1 and opponent catches up.

And proof of the lack of physicality in a big way. Hawks player steamrolled a Leafs player. The Leafs player gets up all mad, charges at the Hawks player for revenge, and just bounces off the guy and falls back to the ground.

I see a couple of Flames games were postponed due to Covid and there were a couple of positive tests in private boxes at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto which forced people into quarantine.

This seemingly never ending Covid battle could throw the season into a tailspin pretty quickly. I could see capacity limits in arenas returning.

Dont know if its capacity limits or just tighter restrictions.

How many actually wear masks at games? People are always eating.

Oilers probably has the two best players in the NHL and the team is still like that

Sure, they've played more games, but Leafs are #1 in the NHL.

I guess this years edition wants to be the short list of 1 seeds who have lost to the 8 seed.

Leafs and Senators maximum attendance will be reduced by 50 per cent due to Covid-19 protocols. That happened quicker than I thought.

Omicron numbers in Europe are doubling every 3 days, and this variant cuts through vaccines (although vaccine protection from severe effects is still supposed to be strong). If I had to bet, I'd say NHLers in the Olympics isn't happening, and there will be a league stoppage at some point (though not as long as 2020). I think there will be a stoppage in the NBA at some point as well. Olympics and the NFL are what I'm curious about.

If I'm the NHL, I wouldn't go to the Olympics, and just do another world cup in 2022 or 2023 to boost revenue, still get the international tournament to happen, and in the case of this year, give yourself some extra weeks to play with to make up the games being postponed.

And Spezza got suspended 6 games as a first time offender (never been suspended before in his almost 20 year career) while Pionk is under concussion protocol.

Those 2 suspensions had 0 penalty minutes during those plays.

And people wonder what's wrong with the NHL

wow Spezza has been around that long? I guess if my earliest memory was creating personal draft classes with him on SNES, shoulda known

(also kinda embarrassing to admit I was still playing SNES at that time)

ok, so they traded Alexei Yashin to pick him, and Chara was a throw in?

sorry, I'm gonna stop sidetracking now, I always do this when old NHL guys make news and I relate to my old gaming days

If you mean use the 3 week Olympic break to make up missed NHL games, good luck. An awful lot of arena dates during that stretch have already been booked for concerts, etc.

Also, regarding the World Cup of Hockey boosting revenue...

Ziggy Palffy might be my favorite sports name of all time

Ziggy Palffy was one of the most underrated forwards of his time. Smallish winger who put up PPG numbers in the Dead Puck Era? If he was 10 years younger and played the bulk of his career post 2005 lockout, Palffy would've put up superstar numbers.

That'd be a fun team. Veillette's D pairings are okay, but I'd rearrange the lines as following:

                            Clark-Spezza-Palffy
                            Thomas-Jokinen-Bertuzzi
                            Dumont-Reichel-Linden
                            Connolly-Peca-Czerkawski

Haven't though about the Polish Prince for a few years, LOL. Married a Bond girl IIRC.

I wouldn't consider Wendel Clark to be part of the bad moves he made.

As much as Leafs fans love him and all, I'm sure they'd do over that trade.

Luongo was the pick the Leafs gave away.

I guess we're about to go back to "Movie Night in Canada" again.

Bruins/Habs was already postponed tonight, and now Leafs/Canucks is off too (both teams seem to be dealing with stuff, most notable seems to be Tavares who is one of the names on the covid protocol list)
