BTW, look at Preezy’s thread, post #42. Suggestion is to turn off fatigue at the beginning of each quarter for one play to ‘reset’ it to improve competitiveness. I’m thinking about trying this when I get started. What do you think?

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
I'm still tinkering with the running game myself. I feel like the CPU is a little overpowered and the User a little under. I want the running game to feel dangerous and something that needs to be accounted for. I don't think I've found the sweet spot yet where big runs will happen but not too often.
Regarding fatigue, that's an interesting idea. I'll give it a try. I lost a game last night as BYU vs NC State and I have that recent loss with ND to Ohio State so I'm not having an issue with games being competitive. I know it's a big problem for people that don't play Coach Mode because they have a huge advantage over the way the CPU plays. In Coach Mode, we're stuck with the dumb decisions our players make on their own.Last edited by Gomer11; 11-13-2021, 09:27 AM.Comment

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
Lol, I hear you. Although I’ve not played a game with your sliders yet, I just remember when I used to play NCAA coach mode, I tended to win most of the time and the game became pretty easy - especially in the second half (although I didn’t have as much spread between the user and cpu sliders that you have).
I also read in another thread on sliders (although not coach mode sliders) they found the cpu running backs tended to not use any special moves at higher slider values. They tended to be more ‘bowling ball’ type runners either plowing ahead, or bouncing outside then plowing ahead. They found 40 to be the ‘sweet spot’ that opened the rb’s up to use special moves. I wonder if that may be worth a try, and then use run blocking to differentiate between user and cpu ?Comment

Sooo...I made a number of changes and updated Post #3. I tried changing RB ability to 40 and while RB's still do not use special moves, it does look and feel more natural when they run. The other main issue I was having was the CPU throwing 2-3 interceptions per game and User throwing 0-1 but, I think I've got that set as good as it can be. These college kids still do a lot of dumb stuff.
Here is a full game with all of the most recent changes. I was Arkansas and I went into the 4th quarter with a 10-7 lead. Then I promptly threw a pick 6 and fumbled on the next possession. Going into the game I was worried that the runniing game was overpowered but, unlike previous games I played with this setup, both teams struggled to get much going on the ground. That's cool and means the variety is still there. I'm really happy with the setup like this. I'll probably experiment with turning fatigue off/on at the start of quarters just to see how that goes.Comment

I wanted to see how this setup worked for a game with lower tier teams. I was Rice. Close game throughout. Took me a little time to figure out what the Rice offense was good at.Comment

Another game with the same sliders. I was Utah. Got down 23-7 and fought back to win late.Comment

Thanks. I’ve been experimenting with various changes and tweaks to try and better understand how the sliders work. I’ve found nothing yet that I care to report that really improves on what you’re using. If I find anything interesting, l’ll let you know.Comment

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
Hey man I used your sliders for a game and they were pretty good so I’m going to keep rolling with them for more games. I have a question though, what are your thoughts on making it 10 min quarters instead of 9?
In my trial game I got about 142 plays total (including kicks and punts) which is pretty much right on the mark. Mose college teams average around that 70 play per game level. If I bump it up to 10 min quarters that obviously will give each team an extra 5-6 plays per game bringing the game total to around the 150-155 plays per game mark.
What do you think?Comment

Hi Tarek. Happy to hear you found the sliders useful. If you like the stats and gameplay at 10 minute quarters, go with it. I can't imagine it will make a tremendous difference. My focus wasn't as much on plays per game as it was yards per game. We all play differently, so just go with what works for your style and makes for a fun game. I tend to call plays quickly and not use much of the play clock, so 9 minutes is my sweet spot. More time than that and I tend to get too many 500-600 yard games.Last edited by Gomer11; 01-09-2022, 12:00 PM.Comment

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
Thanks man. To be honest I’m playing with your first slider set not the ones in post #3 yet. I might try a game out with 10 min quarters. I play a low 3 star team so we aren’t the powerhouse team so I don’t get a lot of yards anyway, got about 170 rushing and 160 passing so an extra 5 plays will likely bump up those slightly.Hi Tarek. Can I ask are you getting any high scoring shootouts? Or massive blowouts too when playing low ranked teams? I love having close defensive battles, challenging games but also like it when either my team gets completely blown out by a top 5 team and there is nothing I can do about it but try to keep the score respectable.
I also like those shootouts every now and then when the teams combine to score around 60-70 points.Comment

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
I get a good variety of games. Teams that are close in Overall should play tight games most of the time. That was my goal for these sets. However, you'll certainly blow out teams with low Overall ratings (unless you're a terrible coach!) and probably get blown out playing against teams rated much higher than yours. Sometimes blowouts just happen. For example, I played a couple play now games yesterday that were between teams close in Overall and they were both lopsided. I played at home as NC State vs Florida and got destroyed. Then I took Pitt into Ohio State and blew them out. In my Dynasty with New Mexico, I had a heart thumping game against Air Force that came down to a last second 4th down play from the five yard line. I like that anything CAN happen with these sliders but, they mostly hold true to ratings. Can I ask are you getting any high scoring shootouts? Or massive blowouts too when playing low ranked teams? I highly recommend trying the sliders in Post #3. I've spent the most time on those and have had the most help with them from other players. They play tough but fair and it feels really rewarding to build a team and win.Comment

Thanks man. What do you find more challenging about your sliders in post #3? I like the first set because both user/cpu sliders are the same. I often don’t call my defensive plays rather I just sim and watch the play instead, do the sliders play differently if you do that (kind of cpu vs cpu style at certain times).I get a good variety of games. I’ve now played 2 games on your set on post #1 and I’m really having fun. I bumped up to 10 min quarters and in game 2 had about 720 combined yards on offense which is kind of consistent with how offenses currently are in college (700-800 yards is around the average with slow games down around 500ish and shoot outs being around the 800-900 yards).
I’m really enjoying your sliders to be honest although I haven’t seen an interception yet, and very few turnovers all around.Comment

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped
The sliders in Post #3 are heavily slanted toward the CPU's favor to try and make up for its awful play calling. I needed to make it so that some of their terrible calls succeed in order to keep games competitive over the course of a dynasty. With the other sliders, after my team would reach an Overall of 90+ I would never lose and that got boring for me.
But hey, this is about having fun so if the first set is providing that for you stick with it. If you feel like you need more of a challenge at some point, give the others a go. I'm honestly not sure how the sliders work with simming on defense. Sorry I can't be more help in that regard.
Fumbles do happen but not terribly often. Bump the interception slider up a bit if you feel like you're not seeing enough. Just do it in increments of 5 because it's a thin line between 0-1 per game and 4-5.Comment
