Spot on article. This right here

*it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see some franchise players walk away from*Madden*completely now*
Is especially true. I have always played franchise from release to release and I walked away in December or January. There's just nothing there that should be there in a modern football franchise mode to keep me engaged.

Agree with Kache. I used to buy every Madden at launch, but now I just play the 10 hour trial via Game Pass/EA Play and that's it. They need to go back to a  real-time physics engine instead of the animation based crap. It's amazing to me that the old Xbox/PS2 games still play better and it's been almost two decades now.

Yea I don’t think I’ve spent any money a new madden game since ‘19. Thank god for gamepass is all I’ll say. Don’t see myself shelling out $70 anymore for this bare bones game

People should stop buying it. Only way to hold them accountable. They won't change anything if they keep getting record profits YoY.

              Madden 23 updates will include:

              - new locker rooms for scenario cut screens
              - new and improved generic faces drawn by producer's 8- y/o nephew
              - all new and improved Long shot mode that no one cares about.
              - be a ref mode so that you can now play as your favorite referee
              - enhance your stadium by updating box seats, bathrooms, and concessions (things you'll never see in the game)
              - create a team (that can only be used for 'play now')
              - new accessories for coaches, including hats and glasses
              - improved AI logic for when all new cut scenes spring into action
              -customizable FG nets

Be sure to catch up on these updates in our summer deep dives.

But in all seriousness, this is a great article. If I were associated w/ EA I would feel absolutely embarrassed by what has transpired. Once again they messed up, got called out for messing up and instead of owning it, they just tried to throw something together thinking they would save face.

Top 5 Madden 23 New Additions:
                1. All new masks for players during interviews.
                2. Players can now dance on the sidelines after a big play.

                3. Coaches now sit in their offices and play games on their cell phones.
                4. Now, you can throw the ball away and run and throw using the all new one button mode.

                5. All new physics for player celebrations after first downs.

New bonus for early release purchases - for the first time ever, the physical game comes with an instruction manual.

                Great Job EA!

I’ve said it here and I’ll say it again:

All you need to know about franchise is that they actually improved draft logic in M21, but it broke in M22 when the biggest add to the mode was ABOUT THE DRAFT.

Ok, let me find my crystal ball...

EA/Madden got away with it again, didn't they? Lots of sales. Lots of promises. Lots of missed opportunities. I doubt things will improve in next year's release, so I'm walking away. I'll look for a good text game...

I only wish they'd fix player contracts to be more realistic and flexible.

At the end of the day, the actual money made from copies sold pales in comparison to the amount made in MUT. Unless MUT players boycott the game then I don't see them caring beyond just paying lip service if that. I'll continue to buy Madden and play franchise because that's my only option. I don't game on PC so it is what it is.

Swami seems like he's out of Madden. Deuce Douglas has been silent since the reveal live stream they did. I don't think the Madden twitter has said much of anything beyond mentioning the second franchise update. I'll continue to be disappointed but not surprised.

I have hope M23 will be a great game and a fitting tribute to John Madden. If this isn’t the case I doubt I will buy another Madden game again.

They need to build on the home field advantage. Tune the draft logic and make a franchise mode similar to NBA 2K. We should be able to customize the league and have a commissioner type mode. Give owner mode some more love. I don’t play as a HC so these scenarios they add in are pretty worthless to me. Let us change the turf in our stadiums. Let us do more little things.

And I must be the only one who thinks MUST is stupid. I used it for 5 minutes like 5 years ago and turned it off.

I had given up on Madden for awhile due to neglecting the franchise mode but I got back into it last year and played in an online franchise for a few seasons. I ultimately decided I didn’t have the time for the online franchise for Madden 22 and decided to wait and see how the new scouting system worked before buying the game.

I ended up not buying since it was so underwhelming. Hard to imagine I’ll buy the game again until they get the franchise mode to a state where it’s fun to play offline again.
