Some New Info For Madden 23

Appears like the passing game and tackling game is becoming more in the sim area.

Tackle battle mini game, not so much.

I hope the passing game and tackling game are as advertised vs how the game is delivered.

As long as I can disable the mini game if I want.

From the description, it sounds like how 2k5 used the button mash to help dictate tackle outcomes, which I actually loved.

With a limited button layout, will be interesting to see what is changed/removed to facilitate having all the mechanics accessible during Usering.

I know the year before Rex departed, he noted to me on Twitter that throwing to an space on the field, with QB Accuracy Rating(s) impacting how big/small the area would be in an effort to untether the ball from the coded route catch point.

Key assertions with these features is "optional toggle"

Huh. We'll see how it all works. If the passing system is better I hope the CPU takes advantage of it also.

The return of Tackle Battle make me sad, we'll see on the passing, it would be nice if they could have the mechanics of the passing without any on field indicators.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

"Hit Everything" sounds interesting. I'm all for more physics-based tackling.

The Tackle Battle is a step back though.

EA comes up with these innovative ideas every (other) year but we know the drill: it sounds great in the spring and summer. Then when you get the game, the innovative idea doesn't execute and needs to be patched. If you're lucky, it is a day one patch, otherwise you have to wait until September for it to be patched.

But the patch ends up causing unintended consequences that needs a patch to fix the patch that patched the thing that needed to be patched (yeah... I know... you have to read that a couple of times.)

Long story short... yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll see.

Brand new passing mechanics is a good way to guarantee I try Madden 23, I think. At a surface level this looks like it might be more usable than the novel but failed reticle passing experiment.

I hope this new passing system is paired with introducing more modern defensive match coverage schemes into the game, otherwise zone defenses are going to get busted open even further than they already are.

Who snafu'd these screen shots and information lol? That was literally a "sneak" peak!

On a serious note, looks like some great additions and I'm looking forward to it as long as they bring player movement 2.0 back to its former glory. Get that heft/weight back in and I'm sold.

Why do I feel like I'm reading something from 2018? Did they call Rex about the tackle battle and the "new" passing mechanic. Hit everything lol? Tackle battle is not a new feature they're just enabling it once again. This series is no longer a day 1 buy. They're almost moving the bar backwards at this point.

And VC obviously aped the idea of using a meter for accuracy from the 1993 MS-DOS game Three Point Basketball by MVP Software.

Seriously, it’s a meter. Meters are ubiquitous in video games and have been for my conscious lifetime. Not everything needs to be about EA vs 2K.

I am one the few here who is a fan of Madden 22, but I can't lie when I say that I had to look at the date on the article and see that it said April 8 and not April 1. Unless the implementation is totally different of course bringing back two hated features is a questionable decision.
