WEEK 15 UPDATE: July 29, 2022 [“The Overhaul” Roster Update]
It’s here! “The Overhaul” Roster Update focusing on player attributes drops alongside today’s content update.
Our player ratings team dug deep through the data from the first half of the MLB season, and we made sweeping adjustments to player ratings. We always use advanced stats to upgrade and downgrade player ratings during Roster Updates, and in “The Overhaul” we focused on the first-half metrics to grade players’ fielding and speed. We use the larger sample size to grade these attributes compared to contact and power which fluctuate more often based on counting stats like home runs.
For pitchers, we updated which pitches they have been throwing in the 2022 season, along with changes to velocity, break and control of each pitch. More than 270 pitchers were updated today. Nine more pitchers received the Outlier Quirk in “The Overhaul,” which gives them the coveted velocity boost to a fastball pitch (4-seam, 2-seam, sinker, cutter).
Meanwhile, the fielding boosts helped Alejandro Kirk and Julio Rodriguez become the newest Diamonds!
