Hopefully we get a stand alone World Cup game like during the 360/PS3 era. I hated how they made the 2018 World Cup as downloadable content in FIFA 18.

"Pay us 1 billion dollars over the next four years and develop a game for us that can compete with the games that have been around for almost 30 years."

I'll believe it when I see it. This has Axis football written all over it... if they're lucky lol.

FIFA is currently engaging with leading game publishers, media companies and investors in regard to the development of a major new FIFA simulation football game title for 2024.

A number of new non-simulation games are already under production and will launch during the third quarter of this year.

I'd be happy to review these new titles as they come out if you're looking for people again.

If this somehow leads back to the days of multiple developers and publishers putting out titles for sports games, I'm all for it.

I can't decide if FIFA is asking for too much or if EA are being stingy. I mean, EA has the cash and then some

To just throw away 250-300M per year on a name that doesn't come with anything? You realize they're already paying hundreds of millions for all the other football licenses involved, right?

The whole thing is kind of weird. Game developers can challenge EA or Konami all they want right now! They don't need FIFA, unless they're solely interested in World Cup games in 2026 and beyond.

As much as it pains me to defend EA I blame FIFA completely! EA still has the rights to UEFA EPL La Liga Bundesliga MLS the players rights etc… FIFA's license includes the FIFA brand name (mired in scandals) and the World Cup (which EA still gets to use for Qatar) so FIFA's demands to renew the license are ludicrous!

Some gamers think that companies got all that cash on hand by overpaying for four letters and a tournament mode that only happens once every four years.

                    Like EA doesn’t budget.

They could develop the game in Qatar, with a cheaper workforce.

Anyway, I haven't touched a football game for over a year now as I consider both options insulting, but still, three dog**** card collecting football games are better than two in my book. Maybe by complete accident one will resemble the sport.
