2022 NHL DRAFT RANKINGS: THE WRIGHT CALL
Our Draft Experts rank the top 16 players as the 2022 NHL Entry Draft is just days away
Jeremy Evans - JUNE 20, 2022
With the 2022 NHL Entry Draft approaching fast, we at The Hockey News will release our latest Draft Rankings for 2022 Lottery Picks. The season has had many ups and downs with rankings being so difficult due to world conflicts (cough cough, Russia) making the selection of some European prospects riskier then usual. It's something that teams will have to be wary of when selecting players from overseas. This ranking will be split into different tiers decided on by the Draft Experts that made this list. The Tiers will be split into these four groups:
Franchise Player:
These players will be the face of their franchises. They're the best players on their team's and usually their Captain.
Examples - McDavid, Matthews, Josi
All-Star Calibre Player
These players will be perennial All-Stars throughout their career and will be prolific producers during their careers.
Examples - Aho, Gaudreau, Pietrangelo
Top of the Lineup Player
These players will be either Top Six Forwards or Top 4 Defenseman that may collect a few All-Star selections but wouldn't be seen as true All-Star
Examples - Marchessault, Eberle, Barrie
Now with that out of the way, let's get into the Rankings
(Editors Note: The X-Factors used in these Prospect Previews are just a way to show what they're good at, It does not mean they have these X-Factors)
Tier 1 - Franchise Player
Tier 2 - All-Star Calibre Player
Tier 3 - Top of the Lineup Players
