No more college teams in '23

Face of the Franchise mode has been terrible but I hoped it would improve enough to be playable this year. According to this video (starting around the 7:40 mark) the college and high school portion has been taken out.

    Mod edit:

Video is commentary based on the official description of Face of the Franchise, below:
Face of the Franchise: The League
The League drops you into your fifth NFL season at a skill position of your choice (QB, WR, RB, CB, MLB) and you’re seeking a fresh start with a new team. Negotiate a one-year “prove-it” contract with one of 32 NFL teams and show out with great on-field performance to earn rewards and level up. New position-specific mechanics brought to life by FieldSENSE and player-focused cameras bring you closer to the action and add to gameplay depth by allowing you to dominate every snap, from anywhere on the field. The addition of New Drive Goals and Drive Summaries allow you to tweak your experience throughout the game and get feedback and rewards based on how well you play. Get performance boosts from weekly activities and training between games while Madden Ratings Adjustor Chad Johnson guides your career development by providing ratings updates as you strive for the highest level of prestige on your Road to 99. Will your NFL career rank among the all-time greats? It’s up to you.

And thank god. The stupid storylines they've created the past two years were borderline unbearable for me. They were stories more suited for a TV show or maybe WWE. Unbelievable caricatures of humans that react in the dumbest ways possible to create "drama."

It's even more irritating when I have to react in one of these stupid ways instead of how I want to react.

      Interesting.

Considering the expectation is that the first CFB game will be released in 2023, it's odd to me that they wouldn't keep at least a handful of them in to continue to whet the appetite. That could also just be my selfishness speaking, because I'm starving for some next-gen CFB gaming

Absolutely. I thought the mode was unbelievably stupid but I played it a few times due to my itch for NCAA. I was hoping for more college teams and something fun to play but I should've known. NCAA football can't get here soon enough.

Man I loved Campus Legends, even if they did make some inexplicable decisions like not letting you set your own lineups and omitting Marcus Mariota.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

As a fan of single player modes, I never cared for Longshot/FoTF. Those stories are made for basic cable TV. Longshot was basically modern day short campaign mode with limited gameplay. FoTF had a short poor story and basically player-lock mode. I can get not having the high school and NCAA especially with College Football coming next year. But, I don't understand the logic of starting out in your 5th season with the goal of getting to 99 OVR especially if you're on a one year prove it deal starting out. If you're a RB and starting out in your 5th season, you're pretty much exiting your prime lol. If they are cutting back on the story element, then I don't understand why not open to almost all positions instead of adding CB to the limited available positions. I'm sure many would like to play as edge rusher or a safety

I was hoping they would be done with FoTF. Just go back to the traditional Superstar mode from the PS2 era. You don't need the made for TV stories you see from Longshot/FoTF and MyCareer. You just need to recreate the full athlete experience with stuff to do outside games and practices.

Updated the OP, FotF has changed this year is all, youtuber just reading the description of it in the Gridiron notes.

Personally hope this is just a gap feature for 23/24, and we see this replaced by an experience that that connects the new College and Pro games in the coming years.

Which I do think is the case of it being a gap year before the College game and Madden are connected. I'm not sure whether they will go back to the Road to Glory format. But it would make sense to do the High school and full NCAA experience in the college and start from the pre-draft process in Madden. Only issue in the past was importing your player sometimes led to random results.

The college teams were literally the only reason I touched the mode. This year will be an easy skip should I have Madden.

I completely skipped 21 and 22. But, the college teams were the only thing that would have made me play the mode. From what it seems, you are probably starting off 25 years old and most likely 80 OVR if you're doing a prove it contract. But, you're likely still going to be able get to 99 within 2 seasons and no reason to continue. I'm definitely not buying Madden, but I'm learning to restarting Gamefly later this year after stopping it 3 years ago. So if I do play Madden, I'd stick with Player lock over FoTF

Oh joy. I can't wait to meet my agent in some awkward scene before talking to GMs in cut scenes that vaguely resemble actual human interaction.

It's for the better. Thinking on it, Madden 19's Longshot mode was truly cursed. Antonio Brown being the cover athlete meant he had to get involved in the story, but of all the teams he could have been traded to in the story, it was to the Texans so he could be with Deshaun Watson

thats ok, I'll say it lol

I hope if/whenever EACFB drops, there will be some kind of crossover with college teams returning to Madden.
it would also be great if EA could get the Senior Bowl into Madden, with players ported over to Madden from CFB
