There is no confirmed list, but right now it appears every FBS school is cooperating as if they expect to be in the game, which once the NIL stuff rolled out it should have been expected all schools would be in.
No school was going to say no once NIL became a thing unless they were purposefully wanting less money and to take away a compensation opportunity for their athletes leading to an easy thing to negative recruit with.
And the game will be '24 since it releases in calendar year 2023.

Yes, I read that also, so even though ND and NW said they are out, I assume EA is still acting a preparing as if they are in so when a deal is reached, they will be ready asap.
I can’t wait to play this game, just hope the atmosphere is there. I think of games like Michigan vs anOSU, Texas vs Oklahoma, Alabama vs Auburn among many others and how great the could be on the ps5. I just hope EA delivers on it. I play FOF in madden Just to play with the college teams in the playoffs to wet my appetite, but it still has the madden atmosphere and is sorely lacking of course.

ND and NW only said they'd be out if the NIL stuff wasn't settled in time. It was an empty statement that earned them free PR points because it made them appear as if they stood with the student athletes. Anyone following the situation knew it was nonsense and meant nothing.
We do have reports that the schools that haven't officially signed yet are still working cooperatively with EA so that once the contracts are ironed out everything will be ready to go. And if I remember right, every single FBS and future FBS school is working with EA right now.

With the news about USC and UCLA I really hope the game comes out next year and has these two as well as Texas/ Oklahoma in their legacy conferences. It just feels more like college football that way and that version of the game would be a collectors item.

hopefully customisable conferences will make it's way into that first iteration back next summer
*fingers crossed*
Based on what is happening with college ball right now I have no idea what college football will look like by the time of release. Clearly 2 super conferences are well underway and the college stuff that I love is disappearing in front of our eyes.
I loved recruiting in NCAA 14 but I guess, sadly, the recruiting system will have to be based on NIL and the amount of money programs have to spend. I suspect EA Tiburon is trying to figure out what to do with NIL.

I'm not crazy about the direction of college football but I do believe greed will cycle back through and some institutions will decide to go back to smaller conferences, less revenue to share
also, just as it pertains to video game football, I'm excited to see how challenging it will be to build up a team like such as Eastern Michigan or UMassor whoever, from a group of 5 conference and make it into the Gonzaga or Villanova of college football, maintain a high level while not accepting membership into a power 5 conference. hopefully that will be a difficult challenge in EACF, creating a dynasty that doesn't have huge NIL coffers at it's disposal, yet still manage to steal a handful of hidden gems while the rest of national powers are headed to hell in handbasket and don't even realise
sometimes you have to find the silver lining in the playbook

Yup I love the small programs. Some of my best memories were starting as OC and working my way up. I had a blast in NCAA 13 when I was the OC at Rice for 6 seasons. Assuming coordinators are back for next college football I’ll be starting with JMU.

The NIL can be a pitch given to players. They already kind of had "Popularity" things such as playing on tv or a big fanbase as a pitch in the last game they made.
Well, for the first game, nothing should be too different. But by game #2 , we will need custom conferences.
Since these are not real players in the game or that is what they use to say, it may change with NIL where some players appear. They have nothing to work on but the features after a near 10 year absence. They can't really expecting rolling out the same game from 2 gens ago would fly. It really shouldn't to fans of the game. I loved NCAA but just because it is back does not mean I will pay for the exact game from long ago if they only have some new graphics.
I don't see why they won't have customized conferences since they left off on that ability to move teams to conferences. You just were not allowed to kill a conference off. You could have basically moved all the big names schools to Independent and left the minimum of 4 or 6 "Bad" teams in each conference. playoff format and the ability to customize it to more teams.
and new coaching carousel would be nice, I expect they add a transfer portal since transferring was a random thing in all of the games before and happen less in real life.
