Re: NFL Player Threatens Madden Modding Community, Asks EA to Shut Them Down
This solidifies my decision to boycott watching(or following) NFL football since 2015. I have been ostracized by family, friends and colleagues because I "didn't see what Aaron Rodgers and the Packers did on Sunday..."
I love football and all sports in general but this 'new wave' of professional athletes and money grubbing corporations has ruined it for me. I only play sports games with retro/classic rosters. Embarrassingly, I only watch classic NFL games, MLB games and NBA games on Youtube to get my professional sports fix!!!
Uh oh, now I've done it, Youtube is going to be forced to remove classic sports contests by a current athlete that states that he is "losing money" because Youtube is providing another option to watch sports that don't include the current athletes...LOL!!!Comment

I wonder why NFL players are playing modded madden games and not real madden?Comment

So then...his beef is that they removed him from the game...therefore NOT using his NIL???
That's something...lol!! It's this type of stuff that always concerns me and why I don't think we'll ever see the College game on PC or Current Gen Madden. It only takes one to mess it up for everybody."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Figured this was just a matter of time.
Thankfully, there's nothing to file suit over. Modders/roster builders do this on their own time and no money is being made. You want free speech?
Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.Comment

That’s some major incel energy right there. Very childish and would expect better from a young “man” who has enough discipline to make it and stay in the leagueComment

The CLC or any of its member schools could absolutely file a cease-and-desist to get a college football mod taken down. You can’t use copyrighted or trademarked material without the owner’s consent.
It does not matter that there is no money being made, the marks are being used in a way that the mark holders have not signed off upon.
Generally, video game companies are friendly towards transformative mods which are original work with no copyrighted or trademarked material included and do not harm the game’s multiplayer experience (with some exceptions; looking at Grand Theft Auto V here). A college football mod is not transformative in the legal sense of the word and it violates several copyrights. It is dead in the water if the CLC wants it to be.Last edited by Hooe; 07-22-2022, 11:48 AM.Comment

Wildly incorrect.
