Its pretty simple for me. Last years game the scoring was terrible. All the computer team did was skate to the middle by the net. NO shots from the point. No slap shots, no power play setup. If we do not have that I can not purchase it. I will wait for feedback. Needs to get back to the days of NHL 14 and 15. The play model was fabulous

To say it honest, I have no high expectations in NHL 23. Will be nearly the same gameplay as 22, about thirty new Player likenesses and some new Headshot pics ( Most will be as usual this black Silhouettes ). Dont think they will add much new Things.

I would wish they would have a good Roster Update. They are far from this too. Give me the possibility to upload Headshot pics and better customizing Options for Player faces and I will blame them.

They haven't given us anything to be excited about in a decade via the beta or the real game. Wouldn't hold your breath.

Oooooooh, Boy!! Can't wait to try out NHL 07 v.16.0a!

Because, and don't kid yourselves, that's what it's gonna be. And you'd expect it to be better than all previous versions that have come out... But judging from history, I can't say I will be very, VERY, surprised if it's a different (better?) game.

Welp... Then just think back to NHL 18 and how they managed to screw up the improvements to the game (like the immensely more realistic poke checks) because of the casuals (streamers?) that cried online.

I might have money down on how much worse the goalies are gonna be in 23. I mean, they've steadily gotten worse every year. I think it's a safe bet.

But go ahead EA... Surprise me! (add grains of salt here)

Gee, I went to sign up yesterday morning and it says the Tech Test on the Xbox X/S is already full and I'm out of luck. Never been denied that before. Not off to a good start for NHL 23 at least for me

Biggest hurdle is team size and it comes to no surprise that the NBA2k team has more of a following then the small NHL team. They have what’s in front of them on Aug 3rd. We have to wait until much later for any info. My love for hockey as not only a video game sport but also as a spectator sport and at times recreational hockey is grand.
It is the same thing every year though but I always remain forever hopeful that they can come through with the experience close to what those folks get with the 2K series it is possible but IMO the micro transaction is what controls gaming in the sports genre these days but again however more remotely it is possible.

Don't believe the lie... This article was written back in 2017. They've likely grown in size since then. It's not a small team. Even the NBA 2K dev teams boasts a team of their size.

Budget size might be a factor, but that's an EA problem, not the devs. The other is most likely team direction, effort and (quite possibly) talent...

Honestly, they had some improvements in NHL 22 on next-gen, but we are still a long ways away from where this series used to be during the 360/PS3 era.
