About the Positive Play logos at the 25…

Can we finally get rid of them EA? I know this is a tiny detail, but they are an eyesore. Even worst when it’s the wild card for example and you have 2 logos stacked.

They have Positive Play in the main menu also… why have it on the field? Fifa doesn’t even have it anywhere on he field.

It’s been like 3 years. It’s time to remove them. AT LEAST IN OFFLINE GAMES. Once again, many will think I’m insane for posting this, but it’s just ugly and clutter in the field. Literally put it anywhere else.

My feelings are if it’s not on the field IRL, it shouldn’t be on the field in the game! Huge immersion killer!

We aren’t even four years removed from the tragic Jacksonville shooting at a Madden NFL tournament.

I would be utterly shocked if those logos are gone anytime soon.

I'm fine with it there. IMO, more gamers need a healthy dose of empathy.

Less is more...on the screen, on the field... period. EA has some house cleaning to do.

Less on-field clutter is good with me. Videogames don't need to keep being a messageboard for whatever EA wants to push on us.

Same!!! I literally thought i was the only one who thought this way. I don’t mind it in menus or anywhere else in the stadium, but on the field is just clutter and like you said, breaks immersion.

Can you please elaborate on what the logos on the field are doing to help gamers? I’m curious.

The presence of the logos on the field brings immediate and obvious awareness to EA's Positive Play program, within which of interest to users is the malicious player / bad actor reporting tools.

Reporting and moderation tools are vital to protecting access to competitive safe spaces in EA's video games for gamers representing marginalized demographics, including but not limited to: any woman, any non-white person, any not-cisgendered person, any LGBTQ+ person, or any differently abled person. Making players aware of where those tools live and how to access them is a vital component of preserving that safe space.

In my long time within the Madden community, my anecdotal experience is that it is majority comprised of fully-abled cisgender heterosexual white males. Anyone who doesn't fall into that narrow demographic band may have interest in knowing how to protect themselves from abuse along lines of race, sex, sexuality, or ability.

If you fall within that narrow demographic of fully-abled cisgender heterosexual white male (as I do), you probably have never faced online abuse along such lines. To that end, you may not immediately understand the necessity of such tools. But they absolutely need to be there, and EA is absolutely correct to put the presence of those player conduct tools way up front and as visible as possible. It is extremely likely that a single conversation with such a person who plays online games about the abuse they have faced will better inform your views on the subject.

I’m all for what Positive Play stands for. I’m actually not sure what I am yet personally so I don’t get abuse that others might. I totally get that.

Just keep it off the field. Have it in the menus, have it on the stadiums scoreboard somewhere or on the sidelines where the cheerleaders should be.

Just get it off the field directly.

I have played games such as Starcraft 2, League of Legends, CS:GO, and plenty of MMORPGs. Gamers need a constant reminder that, in the heat of the moment, there is someone else on the other side of the screen that is a human being.

This is a topic that has, for years, been brushed aside under an excuse of "that's just online gaming." But given that we're seeing young adult suicides from social media and other pressures, we're seeing an increase in violence in society, and we're seeing a decline in empathy and general behavior in gaming (to the point that Blizzard recently enacted a 'social contract' for players to agree to), a reminder to gamers to treat others better is in order.

Someone such as me has effectively become "battle hardened" as a 42 year old white male who basically grew up dealing with internet trolls and online behavior. But my kids have not. And when I read stories of people literally kicking a girl out of a group in a game because they heard a female voice, I believe other hard looks should be given to how we (as gamers and as humans) are treating each other.

Because this now extends beyond the old excuse of "toughen up." Because it's having consequences that have resulted in the deaths of innocent lives. So, I think with all that in mind, a logo on the field to remind us to treat others well is not asking much.

At Electronic Arts, we believe in the power of positive play. Being part of a gaming community should be positive, fun, fair, and safe for all.

How about this, in offline franchise, it doesn’t appear on the field.

That’s what I primarily play. No reason to have it in single player.

And let’s be honest, when someone gets angry, they are not going to stop their rage over a logo.

This. I only play solo franchise against the cpu. Have been that way for years. If they deem it necessary for online reasons I can’t comment on that but I know it negatively impacts me offline. I like a clean looking game and disable as many visuals as I can already. Should be easy to detect if user vs user or not to flag something like this.
