nba era question
I read that you can play up to 80 seasons in the new eras option....Does this mean if you select the Jordan era and start in 1991 and progress up to todays NBA, the rosters continually update every year to depict accurate rosters for that NBA season, IRL? In other words if you're playing in the 90s, will the Clippers have the same roster in the game that they had in real life in say 1995? Will the Nuggets have the same roster they had in 2003....etc....Last edited by joel0078; 08-19-2022, 01:15 AM.Tags: None -
Re: nba era question
I think it locks in to whatever year you start in. So if you start in 1991 everything will be accurate to 1991 as far as teams and rosters (minus the players 2K doesnt have rights to) and rules. Once 1992 comes around you can download the 1992 draft class, minus the players 2K doesnt have the rights to, and continue on. It would be a lot of work and editing players but if you user control all the teams you could accurately mimic the real life league at the time.

Re: nba era question
I think the major selling point of the NBA ERA's is the "What If's". Like what if Kobe and Shaq stayed together for example? In order for that to happen, that would mean the roster would have to veer off from what really happen IRL. So, it opens things up for rosters to look completely different after year 1. The good thing is, 2k gives us the tools to do our own thing so that we can have it as we like. We can do 30 Team control. We can edit draft classes so the the real guys from those classes are drafted into the game and we can draft them to their correct teams. There are so many possibilities."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

just think for a second. this cannot work like you imagine. because you are taking part you are changing everything. how could the nuggets roster be the same if the nuggets don't have the #3 pick to select carmelo because you traded for it in the 2001/02 season?
also seasons get simulated like a normal offline league. why bother playing if the results are all predetermined anyway?Comment

Re: nba era question
Ya it hinted at the “what if” factor. I guess you’re right. It would be insane if the accurate rosters were organically in place at the start of every season. But there’s really no way for the computer to accurately make a mid season trade that happened IRL either. Either way I’m looking forward to downloading a user created DNA of Barkley and Reggie though.I think the major selling point of the NBA ERA's is the "What If's". Re: nba era question
The thing that would be cool for me is will Shaq age as he did in real life or can you extend his prime by keeping him in better health. Keeping Kobe and Shaq together is interesting, but it's even more interesting if Shaq takes better care of his conditioning.Comment

Re: nba era question
Wanting the computer to accurately reflect the real-life rosters isn't really pre-determining the result...it would be cool control the 90s Bulls and every other team is performing the exact same way they did in real life and making the same trades, transactions and draft picks.just think for a second. this cannot work like you imagine. because you are taking part you are changing everything. how could the nuggets roster be the same if the nuggets don't have the #3 pick to select carmelo because you traded for it in the 2001/02 season?

Or for example, stuff like David Robinson really getting injured and out for the season in '98 so the Spurs get the #1 pick.
Or after you beat the 96 Magic in the playoffs, Shaq leaves and goes to the Lakers AND they draft Kobe (as long as your team doesn't draft him.)
I know this will not happen.
But that would be cool as ****..Comment

Re: nba era question
This feature is simply amazing
But man this feature in Madden would be god tier. Being u can legit play through seasons since they are only 14, 16,& 17 games.
So I’m gonna play 10-15 games per season. Play close out/elimination playoff games. Then do the off-season. I want to play at least 20 seasons lolComment

Re: nba era question
That would be dope hopefully and add that your other post from the original thread as below;
If we can import a scenario to an MLO, then it would be woooooow woooww...My only concerns would be if we couldn’t share a my era scenario save file (like we can with mynba) to share years 1 by 1. That way each user would have to do it all themselves without the ability to just download a save scenario year from a roster creator and plug it in & play. Because I think as it is now you can only start in year 1 of either 1983, 1991, or 2002 so custom rosters for a year other than those would get weird starting at 1 of those start date years.Comment
