Welp, they did it. EA have confirmed they implemented an anit-cheat system in FIFA 23. This means modding will not be possible, even on offline game modes.

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
This is not necessarily true. As someone who is close with the FIFA modding community, mods are still very much in the picture this year. The anti cheat doesn’t care about modified game files and once an SDK is made, there will be progress.- Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster out now! (MLB 25)

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
Oh, thank you Jesus.
FIFA is finally suitable for people who live in first world countries, let's try to keep the trend going and not have it devolve into the quagmire that NBA 2K is.
Mods kill competitive games, there is a reason that everything from Fortnite to WoW have very strict rules when it comes to mods. The second the game isn't competitive the devs aren't eager to support the platform.
If the game is defunct like NFL 2K then modding is necessary because old people need to relive their high school days one way or another.Comment

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
Yes anti-cheat makes it much harder, but modders are already looking for a way around it. It might get disabled by EA, because it makes many players unable to even open the game. Let alone, it will get bypassed or cracked eventually, it's EA after all.Comment

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
Now correct me if I'm wrong(new to the PC scene with sports games), but with the MADDEN and FIFA mods, do they function when playing online? TBH most people that use the mods are strictly offline ayers(i.e the Franchise mods for Madden).Comment

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
As an old guy who plays the 2k Resurrected and NHL04 Rebuilt games, this is a spicy take. Both those games are arguably better than what we have at our disposal currently from EA. Hell even the NCAA14 Modding community is extremely successful for being a defunct game.

95% of the kidding community for FIFA make mods for the offline modes.
Career Mode realism mods, Graphics mods, player faces, Logo/Team mods, etc.
The other 5% try to use them to cheat (which EA’s memory AntiCheat will catch) and they get banned within a week.
Regardless, the take above on modding is very naive. Modding in sports games in todays world where Ultimate Team takes supreme over every other mode, is absolutely necessary. These modders take TONS of hours to make these offline mods tremendously better.- Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster out now! (MLB 25)

I hate when people make definite statements like this while not having a clue

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
I actually uses to design my own fifa mods.
EA slowly worked on getting to the point where they could break mods at will with an update.
They finally got to the point they wanted with fifa 21. They deliberately broke mods with every update. For those who say they don't update. At some point they have mandatory options. They aren't optional. You either update or don't play on origin
I have my own fifa CM YouTube channel. But it's been dead now since 21 as I refused to play cat and mouse with ea and their nasty mod breaking games.
Fifa 22 was absolutely awful. I quickly gave up.
With mods, fifa was brilliant. I developed some marvelous mods. Unfortunately ea also used to remove certain key commands that ruined the mods.
Years ago I told my fellow modders what ea was aiming to do with mods. And they've finally done it.
Yes modders will find a way around some restrictions. Ea will patch the game and break those workarounds.
Consequently you spend more time fixing mods and writing new ones rather than playing.
I've given up on pc for good as life's too short to waste on such nonsense.
I'll play on ps5 if I play
Modding on pc is effectively dead.Comment

Re: No More Mods for FIFA 23
There is nothing wrong with players wanting to deeply customize their experience, and the more games that support that, the better. Many leap frog all the way into making video games professionally from the platform of making mods.Comment
