NHL 23 Bugs & Glitches Thread

So like every year… there is a place.


I think NHL23 is an unfinished product for now.

I tested PS5 and Xb Series X NHL23 Trail version.


* Clunky animations sometimes(!) (also robotic Goalies)
* some non 4k jerseys ect.….not always sharp enough …. Ice looks good.
* PS5 Where are the Sound effects out of the Controller Speakers? I loved that in NHL22
* Graphics on the penalty bench is blurred (Players&Background/Text)
* there is no SETTING for Broadcast to change to condensed ect….

* what’s with the non existing replays!? I want to see a good save, also good checks ect. (On both sides!)
This is an joke? I can’t believe they delete replays!

I’ll Test more…so it continues.

What I really love, finally you can save the strategies on every team! Thanx for that. EDIT: only for play now games..so again bummer

This made it unfinished??? The game played well for me, I may not saw a replay or a piece of a jersey flipping in the wind, but the game played and reacted well in the 4 games I played last night... I would rather the game play well and get realistic number of shots, goals and penalties, than some sound coming out of my PS4 controller or what players look like in the penalty box as I skate by...

Yeah maybe you are ok with no replays at all. Except my team goals.
I want to see replays, so I can see what was wrong with my play…look and learn.., i want to see the checks, the missed chances ect….

I want to be my own video coach


And I think you don’t have a PS5, do you?
The on ice sounds via PS5 Controller is/was awesome…immersed live feeling….
Do you not like the new live sounds in NHL23?

I play on an LG77” OLED and there I can see the sometimes bad grafic quality….

The clunky animations are rare but…….it’s not the jersey in the wind..it looks like it’s not always in 4k….sometimes sharp and clear sometimes not so…

… but to each their own.

Puck collision sound effects! Puck hitting the board sound is far too loud! Also some goalie eguipment triggers far too loud sound effect when puck hits it!

Check settings with replays etc

I think it defaults to Condensed in NHL22 rather than full, may be the same this year.

Unfortunately in this years NHL23
there is no SETTING for Broadcast to change to condensed ect….

I noticed that in franchise, the strategies for the coaches don't seem to align with what's shown in their coach cards.

E.g. If you look at a team's strategies on the lineup screen for the Flyers, they should run a 2-3 forecheck. When you right click the stick for coach card, it shows the weakside lock, and an umbrella powerplay instead of the 1--3-1.

This is why I wish they would go with authentic coaches and have a strategy that works based on the coach...

In regards to strategy....they apparently also took that out intentionally.....

Problem though is there are reports of if you fire your head coach mid season....and hire a new one, the strategy does not change....

FRANCHISE MODE Issues

FIGHTING Camera leaves the fight!! I mean you cant see anything.. I beat someone up last night by spamming the uppercut but never saw anything. LOL

HITTING - is WAY over powered even on LOW settings. Seems like every other hit is a guy getting pasted and taking 5-10 seconds or longer to get up..

Sometimes the prompt that shows who is on the lines for user player disappears along with prompt that sometimes appears, like push for offense, push for defense. The cpu is always there though.

For me the biggest bug is the HDR ! It did the same in 22…

Only games in my library that does this when HDR is enabled, the game changes brightness level at random times during the game… Especially in my zone and at the beginning of periods.

I’ve looked for this bug in 22 and lots of people had this issue as well ! I’m pretty confident it’s not my TV because EA were quick to jump to that conclusion, but these problems were reported all over and ironically enough, it was the only game that did this for a bunch of people…

I noticed last night that I can change all strategies before every game, while this is a extra step at least you can do it!!
