Win in the Windy City: Bulls 2k23 MyNBA

    Setup
    Console: PS5
    Game 2K23
Roster: Official 2K roster as of Oct 30th
Sliders: Eccentric with slight tweaks, base of HOF
    Draft Classes: Auto-generated

Welcome to another 2k23 MyNBA story. I will be taking on the Chicago Bulls as I wanted a team that isn't completely tanking, but didn't want a team that was a surefire title contender. I am also a big fan of Demar and think he's fun to use in 2K, as well as to watch in real life.

I will be playing a game roughly every 2 weeks, which will put me around 10 games played by the end of the season. I will also play every playoff game should I make it. I will be using generated tweet from real NBA reporters to keep tabs on the Bulls as well as the rest of the NBA, and will be writing gamers for games played as well as updating on games that are simulated. I will not be using 30 team control, but will turn on trade approval to make sure nothing wacky is happening.

*G League is turned off. The random high 70 overall players annoy the crap outta me.

    Enjoy!

Heat Rally in Huge 2nd Half, Bulls Drop Season Opener

MIAMI, FL -- The Chicago Bulls' season got underway Tuesday night in South Beach as Coach Donovan and the Bulls traveled to FTX Arena to take on Miami. There is hope and optimism within the Windy City that Chicago can replicate the success they had last season where they finished 6th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Chicago got off to a big first half as Miami struggled to hit shots, entering the break with only 42 points on the board, and Chicago up by 18. Miami shot just 33 percent in the first half of play, while the Bulls sunk 10 of 18 three pointers. However, Miami was hitting the glass hard with 13 offensive rebounds and 17 more shot attempts than Chicago.

Miami responded out of the break with a 41 point third quarter where they shot 71% from the floor, including 7/11 from downtown. The charge was led by Tyler Herro, who went 2-2 from downtown for 10 third quarter points. Jimmy Butler also stepped up on the defensive end with 3 steals and adding 6 assists in the quarter.

Herro continued his big 2nd half with 16 points in the 4th quarter, including another 2 three pointers. Butler and Bam were once again all over the Bulls impacting the game on both ends.

Nikola Vucevic was largely ineffective against the more athletic Bam Adebayo, holding the Bulls big man to just 10 points on 4-11 shooting. Zach LaVine paced the Bulls with 26 points including 6 three pointers. Demar Derozan added 19 points and 6 assists. Derrick Jones Jr, who was the surprising starter at the 4 spot, added 12 points of his own as well as 2-3 from long distance. He also showed the defensive abilities that we've heard about in training camp adding 2 blocks.

          Leaders
          P: T. Herro 26 | Z. Lavine 26
          R: B. Adebayo 22 | N. Vucevic 13
          A: J. Butler 10 | 2 Bulls 6

          Coaches Corner

          On the loss...

"I was obviously thrilled with how we played in the 1st half. Guys were really locked in on both ends of the court. Ayo and Derrick were playing great defense which allowed DeMar and Zach to do their thing on the offensive end. I am so proud of Derrick. I know some fans and media were surprised with him in the starting lineup. You shouldn't be. He's a dang good player and will be all year. Obviously we wish we could've won, but that's the NBA. Spo is a great coach and had adjustments we didn't expect."

          On Vuc's struggles...

"It's one game. If this happens in the middle of February nobody even says anything. There are some guys in this league, that, you know, you don't match up well with. For Nikola, Bam is one of those guys. He can do so many things on both ends of the court and we felt hit impact tonight. Vuc will bounce back."

              Bulls Rout Brooklyn 112-79

BROOKLYN, NY -- The Chicago Bulls took care of business on part one of the opening night of an away-home back-to-back at the Barclays Center against the Brooklyn Nets, routing Kevin Durant and company in front of a surprised home crowd, winning by over 30 points.

Nikola Vucevic, who had struggled to find his shot coming into the game, poured in 25 points on 10-17 shooting against a Brooklyn interior defense who has been one of the worst in all of the NBA. Vucevic had a big night for fantasy basketball owners around the league, adding on 18 defensive rebounds. However, he was outdone by his backup, Andre Drummond, who hauled in 21 rebounds in just 22 minutes of action while adding 12 points of his own.

Kyrie Irving, who missed most of last season due to COVID protocols, struggled to get much of anything going on the offensive end, scoring only 10 points on 5-20 shooting. His teammate, Kevin Durant, had a better night for the Nets scoring 24 points, but it wasn't enough to beat the high powered Chicago Bulls. Brooklyn was just 2/14 from beyond the arc as the Bulls were focused on running the high powered Nets off the 3 point line and forcing them into shots at the rim or in the mid-range.

Behind Chicago's 2 big men, they pulled down 21 offensive rebounds and scored 8 points off of those chances, while the Nets had only 5 of their own offensive rebound.

The Bulls will return home tomorrow evening to host the Charolette Hornets, who come into the game with a record of 3-4, while the Bulls sport a 5-3 record in the young season.

              Leaders
              P: D. DeRozan 30 | K. Durant 24
              R: A. Drummond 22 | N. Claxton 8
              A: D. DeRozan 8 | K. Irving 6

              Coaches Corner

              On His Big's Big Night...

"We Knew that Brooklyn doesn't have the personnel to match up with a lot of team's in this league on the interior. It just isn't the way that they are constructed. They are obviously a great team with 2 of the best players in the world, but they don't have a big that you fear on either end. I've remained confident in Vuc throughout this mini-struggle of his, and it paid off in a big way tonight."

              On Ben Simmons...

"Ben is great. He's one of the most unique players in this league. He finished with what, 16 points? He plays fantastic defense. He can guard your point guard, your wings, or your 4 or even your 5. We saw them go small playing him at the center at the end of the 1st half and they went on a little bit of a run. I think he's going to have a great year in a new environment. He can do the dirty work while Kevin and Kyrie carry the load on the offensive end."
