This game is unplayable in the offline mode.

THE CPU GOALIE CANNOT BE BEAT.

3 CONSECUTIVE GAMES OF BEING SHUT OUT.
OVER 90 SHOTS ZERO GOALS !!

Meanwhile your goalie doesn't block anything so you get torched every game.

I could simply try to lower the CPU GOALIE sliders but changing all these sliders gets very tiresome.
Once you get the game playing right they change it in the update so you are back to square one.

I like playing seasons so it's pointless to keep playing with it being messed up like this.

Vasilevsky one of the best goalies on the planet ROUTINELY GETS TORCHED on my season but the CPU goalie is UNBEATABLE.

Very very disappointing. When I finally loaded up the last update things went swiftly downhill.

I have always looked on the positive side with this game but I can't deny what people have been saying all along.

Well before this update I've been reading a lot about how people think the goalies are too good. I think it's the opposite and the only thing ruining this game....the goalie AI and animations are awful and way to many games are 3-3, 5-3, etc...before the end of the first. They stop nothing no matter the sliders or difficulty level.

Well before this update I've been reading a lot about how people think the goalies are too good. I think it's the opposite and the only thing ruining this game....the goalie AI and animations are awful and way to many games are 3-3, 5-3, etc...before the end of the first. They stop nothing no matter the sliders or difficulty level.

I have played about 1000 games of NHL23 and have NEVER seen scores like that after 1.. IDK how you play(Control ALL players or PL, trust me it makes a difference) or what SLIDERS are being(THESE are especially important) this game is off the charts borderline GREAT..

Question-Are you playing offline or online?

If offline, and you're willing to play with the sliders a bit, I've found that the biggest difference has been lowering shot accuracy to around 26. I don't personally find the goalie sliders don't do much unforunately, but with the accuracy down, I'm seeing a solid variety of goals, and the scores are lower. I use AlTito's slider set, but have lowered the shot accuracy a bit more than he had when he set up his set.

Another suggestion that I have, is that when defending in your own zone, try not to change players super regularly. I know that goes against the full team control aspect, but there's a very small lag when you change players, and it *sometimes* results in your players ending up out of position, which results in the offence being able to get to the high danger scoring areas much easier. That's what the AI offence is programed to do-get the puck to the slot...if you can keep them outside by not ending up out of position, they'll take far more lower quality shots.

My 3rd suggestion is to lower the CPU/User hit power to 15 and 10 respectively. Going for big hits is fun, but the CPU passing accuracy is always fairly high, so if you just bang out there, it's less likely that you're going to be able to take possession of the puck. Stick checks (ie. poke check/stick lift) are far more effective when it comes to regaining possession of the puck than crashing around out there (similar to real life).

The last thing I'll say is make sure you're using the OOTB tuner (1.00). The most recent one seems to be geared for online play (high scoring), which is obviously not ideal if you're going for any sense of realism.

Overall I still see *some* higher scoring games, but I find that the majority of goals that I end up allowing are simply from my own mistakes/being out of position. If I focus on defence-first, I have far more success than if I'm playing a run and gun offence style.

I’m in the same camp. I have never seen scores like this in the game pre or post patch. In my opinion the goalies are too good. To the point where the one timer has been completely eliminated from the game.

I get that they made it harder this year, the defense is really good at stopping cross ice passes. The problem is when the defense has a break down and leaves the cross ice pass open, there is less than a 25% chance you will score the one timer. The goalies are just way too good at warping to far side and stopping these shots.

One timers are essential to hockey and a play you see in almost every NhL game. I get that they needed to make the defense better at intercepting passes but they have also went a bit over board with the goalies. The goalies also cheat way to hard to the short side. To the point where the low far side twister is basically the meta on how to score in this years game.

To be honest though I’d rather have the goalies like this and more difficult to score on. It at least makes the games interesting

No I don’t play with player lock. I like to control all players on the ice. I have had games where I score 5 goals. And I’ve had games where I’ve been shut out. But the goalies to me aren’t the problem with this game

I quit playing NHL 23 and bought FIFA.

After a few days of playing FIFA 23 I crumpled the disk up and threw it in the garbage. These idiots have made a soccer game where you can't stop the AI from taking shots. Ridiculous.

I still have NHL 23 but have ZERO motivation to come back to it.

EA is the worst thing to ever happen to sports gaming.

It's too late in the year to go back to MLB the Show. Baseball season is over.

I am thinking of trying NBA 2K but I'm not really into the NBA.

I hear ya. I went back to NHL 22. Much better to play than 23. EA didn't change much in 23. At least you can score in 22! lol.

I’m having wonderful games and the goalies are perfectly fine as they are… When the are too weak, people complain, when they are too good, people complain…
