    2023 Offseason Thread

Offseason will begin half of the league while the others will be in the playoffs.

So far, the Broncos have received permission from the Saints to interview Sean Payton for their HC opening.

And Adam Schefter is reporting that Rams’ HC Sean McVay will take some time after the season to decide on coming back in 2023.

Should be a pretty busy coaching carousel. Three mid season firings, Arizona and Houston seem to have pretty hot seats for their coaches, McVay will probably step away since the roster is a mess and then you can count on one or two surprise moves

Lovie Smith doesn't even make it to Black Monday. Yikes.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Add Kliff Kingsbury to the Black Monday list.

Derek Carr says goodbye to the Raiders on Instagram. Who picks him up I wonder?

It'll be interesting to see if he gets traded or released. His guarantee hits in mid-February, so it'll be relatively soon if he does get traded.

With the contract Rodgers signed in the offseason is it possible to trade him?
Jets ownership said they would pay the price to bring in a QB.

Yeah there was a good article on The Ringer about it. They would eat something like $40M if they traded him before March 3 or whatever the new league year starts.

If he's still in GB by then, it's an $80something million dead cap hit

The NFL makes it impossible to trade some players even if there is another team willing to trade and take the contract on.

There are pros and cons to it. MLB teams sometimes do it, NBA it happens all the time to pay lower teams to take the contract hit.

I prefer the NFL way though as it forces teams to manage the cap closely and does produce different strategies.

IF they wanted to move him, this year would be the best time to do it.

We back gassing up Sean Payton and talking him up like he’s Belichick 2.0 and he’s some damn team savior?

Not at all. I think he's wildly overrated

Well the rumors are starting to fly...lol with Leftwich being fired by Tampa there is talk all over Twitter about him coming to Pittsburgh.

Would he be an improvement over Matt Canada? I would like to think so, but at this point who knows, I want Canada gone in the worst way as his offense simply cannot generate enough points to be competitive with the likes of KC and Buffalo and possibly throw in Cincy as well.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.
