      Gotta love the NHL.

Leafs got fined for complaining about this missed call

They were also fined 100k for breaking NHLs holiday rules prohibiting team activities during the Christmas break.

Leafs only did so because they had to catch a flight to St.Louis, so they opted for the 10:30pm flight out of town (1.5hrs later at 12am is when the NHL freeze would be lifted) rather than getting a real early morning flight out of town.

The flight time is 2 hours, and the next flight out of town was 2 hours later, meaning breaking the rule and leaving at 10:30pm ET would get them to St.Louis at 11:30pm local time vs leaving at 12:30am ET and getting there 1:30am local time.

Here's a tip NHL, maybe don't schedule games on the 27th when teams can't fly on the 26th. Especially when the rule has a loophole where the players could've boarded the same plane at the same time they boarded it, but just get the plane to take off at exactly midnight vs 10:30pm. So it's ok for players to board the plane before midnight, but not ok for it to take off?

I still like Kakko but Rangers' inability to develop Andersson, Kravtsov, Kakko and Lafreniere to their full potential is pretty damn impressive.

If tank season wasn't already here in the NHL, it sure is now.

            NHL schedule always confuses me.

Leafs played at home Saturday and now play at Philly Sunday, just to have 2 days off, return home for 1 game vs Preds, then go back on the road in Detroit/Boston.

Couldn't they have just made the Sunday game a home one vs Nashville, Philly on the road Wednesday (since the Flyers are doing a home and home vs the Caps over the span of 4 days with neither team playing in between, so their Caps game could've been pushed up 1 day).

Also works out for the Preds who would instead do a back to back in Toronto/Ottawa instead of Toronto/Montreal.

One of the least surprising things of the season: Winnipeg is better off without Paul Maurice and Florida is worse than last year with Maurice at the helm

He's one of the biggest frauds in NHL coaching history. Amazed how many years he has coached.

Wings beat the Leafs for the first time in however many years....never thought I'd see the day.

There's 38 games left and it looks like we're already locked into a Toronto-Tampa first round series.

The Leafs aren't catching Boston for first in the division after losing tonight to Boston and are 11 points behind the ridiculously hot Bruins.

Tampa might take second place in the division from Toronto but neither of those teams are likely to drop to fourth place. Toronto is 14 points up on Florida which is in fourth place.

This isn't the first time the Leafs have been locked into a playoff opponent early in the season. It just makes it's so hard to get into the rest of the season when there is so little at stake and it's such a weird place to be since they've played well this season and currently have the third most points in the league.

Which is why I hate the current format.

I don't care who the Leafs play. They can beat or lose to literally anyone.

But it takes away excitement when you know in JANUARY who you're playing in 3 months.

With normal 1-8 standings (let's say division winners get top 2 seeds), Leafs could face anyone from Lightning,Devils,Rangers,Caps,Islanders,Pens.

It makes things unpredictable, and you actually pay attention to the rest of the conference. Nowadays, I don't care what happens in the other division because it doesn't impact the Leafs in rd1 (or even 2..if that ever happens).

I've already moved past Denial and Anger, and am swiftly approaching the "Should my Jared McCann Kraken jersey be navy or white" level of Canucks fandom.

Vancouver Canucks president Jim Rutherford said he's "disappointed" in the job he's done so far with the club and admitted to speaking to parties outside of the team about the club's head coaching role with rumours about Bruce Boudreau's future swirling.

Provorov refused to take warmups for the Flyers because they were wearing their pride night jerseys.

Flyers still played him, just sent out a generic press release defending themselves, and Torts basically said he respects Provorov standing up for his beliefs/religion......

Not that anyone should be surprised, it is hockey culture after all.

                              Caulfield out for the year.

                              Slafkovsky out for a while.

Not a good time for the Habs.

Could be worse, they could be the Canucks.

Only a matter of time before Boudreau is gone. They have to deal Horvat too.

There's not much they can do given their roster/lack of cap space either. They'd really need to blow things up. Their best hope at this point is blowing things up (everyone over 25 goes), stocking up on picks and landing Bedard.

Sens are still the Sens, Flames might miss the playoffs, Oilers are lucky McDavid is carrying them again. I still say that no matter how much people make fun of them and their 1 and done playoff streak, Leafs are Canada's only hope to win a cup. Either they win or nobody ever will.

I think Edmonton is pretty good and they'll make the playoffs. If they beat Vancouver tonight that'll be six consecutive wins. The only confounding thing is the Oilers home record; they've been great away from Edmonton.

Based on the experience they got from making the conference finals last year and having the best player in the NHL, I think they're the best Canadian shot to end the drought.

I just don't see the Leafs climbing the mountain that is Tampa Bay and Boston just to get to the conference finals.
