I was that way until just a month or so ago... Personally, I really enjoy DD now... Between Franchise and DD will definitely be playing 23 until 24 comes out.

Your loss. Despite what most people on OS seem to think, DD is actually a quality mode with a lot of content and variety and is not predatory in the slightest, unlike the other yearly sports titles.

I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about "sets" being a thing but as a strictly offline, part time DD player, I feel like I'm not going to be too affected by it. The Captains feature seems cool though as a guy that is mostly motivated by building theme teams.

I don’t have an issue with DD or RTTS, players or the modes but I do have an issue in the fact that 90% of the attention, resources and creativity is devoted to those two modes, as well as competitive gameplay. As a franchise player, I don’t expect all the bells and whistles but it appears all SDS is willing to do is tuning updates and refresh the UI in franchise mode. How many promos does DD and RTTS get by the time the game comes out. Franchise gets one feature premier of about 20 minutes and no updates during the season. S D.S may not be as predatory as EA but their marketing and strategy are exactly the same.

It's a business. Like it or not, that's where the majority of people are spending their time on this game. So even if I don't like it being a franchise guy, I totally get it.

I really use to like DD back before it became a card collecting game. Back when you could make and develop your own team. I feel that it really went downhill after they went to the card pack style team. I got so tired of getting matched with straight 99 teams that were obviously pay to win guys that I just quit playing it. I even gave up my play station plus account for online features all together.

There's also an exaggeration of how many resources go to DD, usually from - you guessed it - people who don't go into the mode. Common sense would tell us that there isn't some herculean amount of effort involved that goes into JPGs of an old baseball card and their (I assume automated at this point) assigning of attributes.

But it is what it is. People need a scapegoat for why (thing they want) isn't in the game, and DD is right there for the blame. I would imagine the Negro League additions will start to be grouped in there sometime soon too.

You could be right, I honestly couldn't even pretend I know how many resources go in to any of the modes, since I don't work there lol

Re: MLB The Show 23 Video - What’s New in Diamond Dynasty

I've enjoyed DD (strictly offline) for several years - in addition to spending close to 1000 hours playing games in franchise mode (and that's just in MLBTS22 alone).

DD has had few impactful changes to the feel of the actual "grind" since I first started playing in 2018 outside of the cards themselves. It has always been, start slow, build, build, build.

This new conceptual change, if well-implemented, could be a rather nice change-of-pace for the mode. I also noticed that the new seasonal roster will be required for Conquest as well; hopefully that will also apply to the CPU teams we play in Conquest (as a big failing of Conquest has been being forced to always play Live Series squads, even late in the cycle).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

You can get a full 99 team fairly easily with no money spent just by playing the mode somewhat regularly. The idea that any of it is P2W is a myth. There's nothing that can be bought with money that can't be earned through other means. All you can buy is stubs and the mode throws so many packs and stubs at you there's basically no incentive to spend real money.

Nope...the majority play RTTS...SDS has said this numerous times...

Now, your dominant audience interacting on social media for the game ARE DD players, which is why the social media messaging is more heavily geared towards them (and rightly so). Look at the Twitch stream audience the audience that watch the DD streams CRUSH the other modes. That's not because no one plays them, but because DD players have more at stake. Card collecting modes have to have continual interaction because of the content drops and those content drops greatly impact a person's experience each year and throughout the cycle.

Honestly, franchise is actually not exciting to talk about. It is a standalone mode that, by design, SHOULD remain static all cycle (you should only make changes to franchise mid-cycle if something is broken). You don't need much more than a single stream to cover the updates for each new game. Even 2k dedicates minimal time to hyping their so-called franchise mode.

I'm not denying DD brings-in more money - but the comm strategy for each mode varies by necessity. Even if DD was totally no money spent (i.e. there was no way for anyone to spend a penny on the mode), it wouldn't change a thing about how the pre-launch and mid-cycle communications are handled.

I briefly dabble in it from time to time,
but, while I like bubblegum and cotton candy, I dont want it all the time.

Yeah I agree with you that's what I was saying too. The previous post was saying DD and RTTS are where all of SDS time is spent. I was just commenting that's where most people are playing the game, not franchise.

I actually played DD for the first time in the tech test yesterday and got matched up against a team of all stars. When their #8 hitter is minnie minosa and my cleanup hitter is Oscar Piecota, you tend to lose interest.
