    Re: Commentary in mlb 23

The expectation is yes it will be better, but no one knows for sure yet as no one has played a version of '23 that includes commentary.

There is a feature premiere coming on March 9th that will cover commenatary/presentation so we should have a better idea as to what has improved in '23 over '22.

Should be, more lines, names and less less repetition I would assume. IMO I play a ton of games every edition, commentary should be just simple play by play and strategy discussion i.e. ball 1, swing and a miss, grounded to 2nd, etc. the canned conversational lines, stories, etc sound so detached from the game and repeat so much ad nauseum, I turn off commentary every year after about a month.

IMO they have a solid base to build on from 22 so I expect it to be better in 23.
Boog is a worthy successor to Vasgersian
and while I like Singleton, I'm having a hard time getting past that in my ears he sounds a lot like DeRo. so while I can live with him another couple years, I kinda wish they'd get a voice actor to be Boogs longterm sidekick. maybe even somebody good enough to master multiple voices

Boog and Reynolds would be the perfect combo I think. I can’t recall what year we got Reynolds but I really liked him. He sounded natural and totally different than the rest. Unfortunately SDS couldn’t lock him up for longer.

I don’t think it will ever happen but I’d be happy with a one man booth.

And as someone else mentioned, cut the useless chatter and limit commentary to play by play and talk specific to the game at hand.

17, theGriffey cover year. I only wish we had gotten multiple seasons with Harold, really like him

I definitely think it'll be better (as it usually improves yearly).

I would like to see some sort of algorithm though that disables some player/team-specific lines from playing after season one in a franchise (or that just removes them from franchise entirely).

And I'm referring to the long, drawn out stories...Benintendi, Gleyber, the blurb about crab cakes in Baltimore, Singleton's Cycle in Chicago, etc.

These types of things are great for play now modes (and to a lesser extent in DD), but they're painful in franchise (especially when they're dated).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

yeah, there tends to be a little wrinkle in that.

Dude....I can't even tell you how many times I have heard the story about Boog's first game at yankee stadium, and Super Joe giving Singleton 2 free suits. I just roll my eyes when I hear those conversations start.

What I don’t get is why they so high on Gleybor Torres being the next superstar? He might have had the potential in 2016-2018 but not going into 2022. Even though he did have a decent year in 2022 before the game went out.

But they don’t say anything about Wander Franco, Bobby Witt.

I would not expect it to be on 2K level and probably never will be.
