Roster Name: Madden24

Working on a very accurate 2023 roster for Madden 21. After putting hours into 23 I’ve came to the conclusion that 21 will always be the best game for me. It just feels the best on the field and is the first “next gen” madden that had a specific PS5 edition. It’s also the last madden that does not use the momentum meter and game plan boosts.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I do plan on making the roster as accurate as possible. Which means correct numbers, positions, and player likeness (for rookies). As well as some ratings updates based off of madden 23 ratings. I will not be doing a full rerate because that will take forever, but I will do guys I know need one for sure. Please let me know if you see someone that is egregiously rated and I will look into it. The only thing that may be missing is a few back of the roster guys or you may see some guys who aren’t on the team anymore. I will do my best do avoid that, but it is inevitable. I will also make mistakes and miss things like number changes here and there so if you see something please let me know. Lastly, you can not edit contracts so you will have to do that yourself once you start your franchise. I will have a running list of all the major contracts I will personally be changing. Keep in mind that some contracts signed in 2022, like Deshaun Watson, I will be taking a year off to reflect its current state.

I just played a test game Dallas (me) vs ATL. Final score was 38-24 Dallas.

Heinicke (CPU) - 24/40 - 263 - 2 - 1
Patterson & Allgeier - 22 for 88 (4.0 YPC)
Dak - 12/17 - 155 - 2 - 0
Pollard & Zeke - 42 carries for 188 (4.4 YPC)

The gang tackling, WR/DB animations and flow of the game in Madden 21 is light years ahead of Madden 23. I have no clue what they were thinking 🤦🏻*♂️. I’m guessing a few years down the road this new engine will get better, but for now Madden 21 > Madden 23 gameplay wise, and it’s not really even close.

I just finished up the NFC South and have been doing all the recent free agent moves as well. Right now there are still some guys on teams that may be free agents but I’m going to leave some until they are officially on another team. But guys like Zeke who were straight up cut are in free agency already.

When the dust settles on free agency I’ll go through and double check every team to make sure everything is correct. Then while waiting on the draft I may dive into equipment changes, probably not for everyone, but definitely for the highest rated players. Then after the draft I’ll probably create the first 2-4 rounds and should be set for the 2023-24 season from there.

Awesome!!! Really do appreciate *all* that you’ve already done, the things that are ‘in progress’ doing, and what all you have planned to try as time permits in the future to do with this truly amazing roster project of yours!!!

Quick question - I’m unsure - so I figured ‘just ask’ - I’m absolutely ready to start a franchise right now, not concerned about the contracts and some other stuff (itching to get started)… is the last file update of 3/16 okay to use to start - I realize 5 teams haven’t been ‘completed’ as of your last post - but I didn’t know if that was tweaking things, ratings, contracts & FA moves etc. - because IF those 5 teams already have the added rookies etc. as you’ve done (or if they’re simply in the FA section already) - then I’d go ahead and start right now with what all you’ve done to this point. Or - should I wait? What would you suggest?

Again, I can’t thank you enough - this roster project is something I’ve wanted to see since first playing Madden on console many eons ago! If I knew how to do it, I would have (I’ll re-word that to say - when people were doing rosters & roster editing via a ‘roster editor’ program of some sort which).

So my best suggestion would be wait until I finish the last 3.5 teams and touch up free agency. You don’t want CPU signing guys who shouldn’t really be starting.

That shouldn’t take more than 2-3 days I’d imagine, hopefully by the end of the weekend. I haven’t finished putting in all the rookies from last year so you’d be missing all of them on the last few teams.

I’d then suggest using a 2023 draft class for your franchise and that way you can get guys like Bryce Young in your franchise at the end of year 1. I currently do not have any upcoming rookies made or in free agency. Last thing I’d suggest, but this is probably not totally necessary, is to start in the regular season rather than preseason. It will keep all the teams intact the way they were when you loaded the rosters. I’m not sure how many roster moves will be made in the preseason, or if that’s something you even care about, but I’d imagine there will be some. Also make sure to turn off pre existing injuries when starting the franchise, I’ve gotten rid of most but there’s still a few I’ve missed.

Also thanks for the heads up on the duplicate player, that’s the exact type of feedback I’m looking for. Sometimes Madden will have a guy listed at S and the website I use for depth charts has him at CB, so it can be a little tricky sometimes. I went ahead and got rid of the extra guy, thanks again!

31/32 teams complete. Only Seattle left to do. Will finish them tomorrow and touch up free agency. Then I’ll go back through and double check the roster and wait for the draft.

Question. Would you guys want to see Rodgers just put on the NYJ even before he gets traded?
