Surprised we didn’t get a little tease of some new footage and instead just repurposed the career mode stuff

        You're surprised?

Kinda how this whole thing has gone

Looks like no specific preview of multiplayer or any online modes before launch.
Maybe we'll get an over the shoulder peek at that on 3/30 I guess

Oh well. One week from this moment I'll be playing the 10 hour preview anyhow

And more than likely a very heavily edited playthrough.
I highly doubt this will be a “live” event.

Well yeah isn’t that what you’ve been annoyed about this whole time is them showing a preview for the preview? Just surprised they didn’t do that this time but it’s not a big deal, really excited to see what they show on Thursday!

I'm just ready to fast forward a week and get my hands on it

EA marketing has been a total failure on this product

(in my view -- I know they seem to have their own/other goals and strategy here)

I’m looking forwards to your opinion 🤣

I may lay low for a few days until you calm down.

                  No need to lay low
I'm way past being worked up about this any more
If I enjoy it, I might buy it .. or I might wait.

Still pretty mixed on it overall for my uses with my aging Uncle. I worry he won't be able to adapt to an all new golf game at this point, as we've been on Perfect Golf for like 8 years now.

As an aside .. I deleted a lot of my recent posts about all of this.

I got some of the most horrendous and offensive PMs from folks on reddit about my postings about the game. Has pulled me back totally to not sharing much of anything.

Incredible how awful people can be on the internet in some corners at times.
                  Really sad.

One thing I can say from the launch of PGA 2K23 is that the way the game plays in the early access/trial period will likely play dramatically different than the game will play even a few days or a week after release.

I bought the Tiger Woods edition of 2K23, which offered 3-day early access (a bit of a mistake, looking back on it...it was not worth the extra $$$). I remember career mode in 2K23 was almost unplayable for me for the first few days, due to hitching and lag. But an early patch dropped and fixed that - or at least made it less of a problem.

So I'd imagine some of this will hold true for EA's game...people who get the early access will see issues that get fixed in time for even the "regular" release with a Day 1 patch.

Early access is worth it more to me, with my job I rarely get weekends off. So the Tuesday release helps me get a good start on it since my days off fall in the middle of the week.

Oh, for sure...I can see how early access can be worth it.

For me specifically with 2K23, it was the fact that the career mode had major lag issues in those first 3 days that made getting the TW edition kind of pointless, because I couldn't really get the most out of that mode in the first three days anyway before a Day 1 patch dropped on the Friday of normal release to address the problem.

I've been reading everything and watching all of the clips. I didn't cancel my pre order so I'll be playing on the 4th right when it comes out. I'm a musician so I work nights, but I'm happy that it's a Tuesday night when I'm off, so I can basically play all day and night. My wife will be so happy haha (actually she plays 2k with me so I'm joking).

I am still concerned with a couple of the obvious things that have been discussed...swing animations especially have me concerned. The backswing seems much too slow, and some swings look very jerky like they are skipping a few frames right at contact. Also static trees, grass and objects not drawing in or being blurred out, and just the general feeling that they went back to the Rory code and just built it out from there.

I was watching Apex Hound's breakdown of the career mode trailer, and really noticed that the actual graphics just didn't seem that much improved over 2k, especially the golfers themselves, the grass and the trees. Just to do a comparison, I did some side by side freeze frames from his video to similar gameplay vids on youtube for 2k. I realize these are compressed videos and what EA is showing may be stripped down for the vids, but doing an apples to apples comparison with the same res youtube videos side by side, the massive graphics improvement I was expecting just isn't there.

I'm still looking forward to it and praying the gameplay is as good or better than 2k.

My goodness the vitriol that will come at you is indescribable

In all seriousness, I'm super fascinated to see what this looks and plays like on PC.
The disparity amongst the screenshots and trailers and leaked clips is just really hard to make sense of.

Next week can't come soon enough

My curiosity is killing me. Somewhere out there many early access folks have their reviews mostly ready to go for when the embargo lift and I'm very fascinated to see what the reactions are.

I'm with you...I never post anything anywhere other than random thoughts here. I read reddit and other places talking about golf games, but I have no interest to get involved anywhere but here.

Also with you on just wanting it NOW lol. We've waited long enough. I'm genuinely excited, there's a hell of a lot of depth, it appears, in career mode, and having the majors and the feel of a real season with these courses is going to be great, as long as the game plays well. I'm interested to see if after a month of EA if I will stick with it or find myself longing for the solid gameplay of 2k. Good times for video golf fans for sure. All positives overall.
