    Generational baseball prospect??

Has anyone ever seen a prospect like this before? Reviewing draft picks from my first franchise draft. I am the mariners and the twins draft this beast in the 1st round. I have never seen a prospect like this in all my years of playing the show. We may need to start a draft studs thread.

I was fooling around in a franchise test season sim yesterday and I saw where the Giants drafted an 18 year old pitcher with an Overall already at 81. I'd like to know if 81 is the max high you'll see for an 18 year old

I drafted an 18 year old third baseman with 80 overall and 99 potential. Dude is a beast. That 97 stamina rating on that pitcher above is insane. I haven't checked my guy, but any chance some of these could be two way players?

I cant say for positive but while my guess is no, you can still take any pitcher (or non-pitcher) and convert him to a 2-way in 20 games

That's amazing, I would love to see the attributes on him. I was suprised to see 80 overall players because in all my years playing the show I think the highest I have ever seen is 76. I drafted a 3B in the MLB21 I believe it was that was 76 overall, 99 potential. Below average fielder but unbelievable hitter. I think when I drafted him he was high 70's contact from both sides of the plate and high 60's power from both sides with high 70's vision and discipline.

It took until my 6th draft to see one. Snagged a 3B who I converted (no rating change) to 1B that was 18 years old, 80 overall with 97 potential.

I left him in AA for half a season before I called him up in June. He was already an 82 overall and ended his season at 85.

I am in the off-season of 2030 now and once I start playing in 2033, he will be a blast to play with.

so, you guys that have drafted "generational" players, even if they are as young as 18 years old, do you go ahead and let them skip the minors (like Dave Winfield) or do you wait awhile anyway. I would think if they are already 80 Overall, they are already big league caliber

Mine would have been ready from the get go to be in the show but since I am a ruthless GM I play the team control game.

I do that for most of my prized prospects. I usually wait until at least May 15, that way I am out of the initial waiver period and the super 2 window.

I know it is cruel but that is how I am as a GM. Ruthless. I lack ruths...

I don't care out their rookie of the year accolades. Lol.

I do the same thing, I try to not promote anyone until they're 20 years old or older. If they're 18 and ready that is great, but with MLB the Show having regression auto-kick in at 10 years of service time then I don't want that generational talent to regress at 28 years old. After that it comes service time, might as well help my team out and promote in June/July. If they change the logic so I get an additional draft pick for winning RoY then I'd have prospects on opening day. Right now adding players early just hurts you in the long run.

Side note/complaint: How is a player Generational if they regress at 28 years old?

Honestly that is why I wait until most of my players are 22/23 and ready to be eligible for the rule 5 before I put them on my 40 man and move them to the MLB level. That way I can get the most before that dreaded 10 year mark.

I end up combatting the regression by editing random high rated players and giving them some of their ratings back. It has kept players like Trout, Judge, and Harper very much relevant. I shouldn't have to but it's the system we have.

It's also why if I am going to sign a player long term, I sign them at the 3 year service mark for no more than 8 years. So they are all off of my roster or I get the choice at least at the 11.000 service time mark.

100% agree with all this and do the same! I wait until the very start of the offseason where you can re-sign your own players and sign new coaches where I'll go into the roster view and sort by service time. I review all the players over 10 yrs for how they performed and buffer back up (Verlander went down like 17 overall points in my first year despite a 2.89 ERA, 10+ K/9, etc)

I have a general draft question. Does the game actually produce non generic players this year? Like guys that actually have detailed faces?
A healthy cow, lying on its side, is never immobilized. It can rise whenever it chooses.

and at the other end of the spectrum, the Mets scouting totally screwed the pooch,
drafting an 18 year-old player with D potential and who started off with an OverAll of... 40

ok, maybe that can be expected in the 6th round but the Mets wasted a second round pick on this chump.
I think it's safe to say this guy is never going to even so much as sniff a cup of coffee in the Show

So, I've never dove super deep into the game before and thus I'm learning new things. Regression always happens without fail at 10 year service mark?

It's service time based, and not... age based?

If so, I'll have to add another thing to the list of attributes/checks/edits I need to do as I go along in my franchise ...
