Re: Home field advantage
In franchise, when you first setup your franchise. You can turn HFA and superstar abilities off. -
Re: Home field advantage
I will say, I played my first game on AM in a few years with HF and SS Abilities off last night, base sliders, and man it was a fun game! *M24B for reference*
Week 1, in the snow (Yea I know, has to be a glitch), at NYG and it came down to the final minutes. While it felt maybe scripted that the CPU couldn’t move the ball the entire 4Q, but then their final drive I couldn’t stop them, I still had plenty of chances to win, but just failed to do so.
Give me some time readjusting pass reads and it’s a different ball game.Comment

Re: Home field advantage
I haven't played Madden 23 or 24's beta so take my comment with a grain of salt. But I could not get into the HFA in 22. I thought some of the abilities made sense, but felt others were too gimmicky or didn't make sense. Your team is more likely to fumble.
If you were able to modify them I think it would be more exciting. I enjoyed the ones where hot routes might not work, or players getting more quickly fatigued.Cal is turning more guys into millionaires than wall-street.

Re: Home field advantage
More likely in the process of being tuned. It's a pain in the *** to tune week-by-week, so you just tune in week 1 and copy/paste the final numbers into the appropriate weeks rather than constantly simming to the week you want to tune. Before release it'll be tuned to week 1 weather.
There's likely a lot of placeholder data in the beta. There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

Hot taking a bit, I don't think every team deserves a HFA factor. I liked it in NCAA when it was limited to a fraction of the schools, but I doubt the NFL would allow it. Most of the HFA factors are based on the *team* not the stadium/fans, so they should probably allow *teams* to gain specific bonuses based on how they are constructed.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: Home field advantage
I would prefer to just have momentum, and then give some stadiums some unique traits, like longer kicks in Denver and Mexico City (but for BOTH teams), slippery field with San Francisco and Washington games, swirling wind with 49ers and Bears games (maybe Bills), colder weather in Green Bay (that actually affects the game; and not always blizzard or trash looking snow either. Sometimes just breath coming out and sluggish play).Hot taking a bit, I don't think every team deserves a HFA factor. Re: Home field advantage
I wish the commissioner tool allowed us to leave the gameday factors on while turning off all of the momentum factors. These at least applied to both teams and were more realistic as opposed to boosts.

Re: Home field advantage
I feel like if the momentum moved slower to each side it might be more balanced. Sucks if you allow a TD on your first drive and you’re behind the 8ball the entire game pretty muchComment

Re: Home field advantage
Agreed. The ability to adjust how quickly it can shift and maybe coupled with the ability to customize which factors apply to which team would satisfy every play style. I personally hate how arcadey some of them are but am sure that some people like those same ones.

Re: Home field advantage
I’m sure in my early 20s and prior, I would’ve thought it was cool, but now I hate them due to the same reason I hate SS abilities, it just makes the game feel arcadey as you stated. I am in a GM league and I watch every game Joe Burrow get in XF zone and never get out unless he throws an INT. Even from taking a sack he stays in the zone. That’s just one example of many.Agreed. Re: Home field advantage
Lol seriously. I gave up a TD and FG to start, then scored two consecutive TDs and I was down momentum despite taking the lead.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment
