Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
I started an 80's Era in 2K23 and I'm up to 1991. If 2K24 committed any resources at all to improving some Eras details with gameplay holding up, I could see myself buying on that alone and just picking up from '92 and moving forward.Comment

Not saying it won't be a great new game. My point is, I've literally only just got to start playing 2k23 'properly' after months upon months of roster editing.
I just can't face the prospect of having to do that yet again, It's soul destroying. Wish there was a feature of being able to carry over roster saves.
I've said this before and stand by it - the classic teams are set in stone. Players. Ratings. Sigs. Tendencies. Playbooks. Playtypes etc - all the devs need to do is get it right just ONCE. Then they can carry that over every single year, But instead, here we are again, editing literally everything to get them remotely close to their real life counter parts.
2k23 is an INCREDIBLE game, one of my all time favourites, as I'm sure 2k34 will potentially be, I just wish we could enjoy the games right off the bat, well, I wish I could enjoy them right off the bat, instead of losing half a year every iteration on editing.-----------------------------------------

Finished the 1990-91 season recently, thereby "completing" the Magic-Larry Era. I've decided to continue chronologically by starting a new Jordan Era, as it'll serve as a bit of a reset for certain details that began to skew a bit toward the end of my initial era. For instance, I never found a way to add Phil Jackson in as a head coach while many overalls ended up a bit too high for my tastes—Kenny Walker ended up being an 87 or something. Starting over should add a touch of equilibrium to things.
Anyway, the Magic-Bird Era finished with David Robinson winning MVP and Finals MVP in '91, sweeping Patrick Ewing and the Knicks in the Finals.
Spoiler
Dale, Tom, and X all meeting again in new places.

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Anyone want to take a shot at what the Mamba Moments might look like? I have a tougher time plucking 10 iconic moments off the top of my head than I did for MJ (if 2K goes with 10 as they did before). I guess it'd also depend if 2K goes with full game replays or maybe dips their toe a little bit further into what they sampled with the Jordan-Cavs shot last year (where you only replayed the last shot alone).
The biggest void I have is trying to remember Kobe's best Finals moments. When I try to think of possibilities I end up just throwing my arms in the air and being like, "Add some finals stuff."
Anyway, a few to start:
1. 1998 All-Star Game (MSG vs. Jordan)
2. 2000 Game 7 vs. Portland (25, 11, and 7). A shortened "challenge" version could just be overcoming a 13-point fourth quarter deficit.
3. 2001 WCF vs. Kings (Only because it was a somewhat iconic matchup of the time, maybe his 48 & 16 in Game 4).
4. Something involving the 2001 or 2002 Finals, the '01 Finals being the more sensible draw because of the appeal of Iverson. I'd doubt anything from the 2000 Pacers since Reggie isn't in the game.
5. 2005: 62 in three quarters vs. Dallas
6. 2006: 81 vs. Toronto
7. 2006: Overtime playoff winner vs. Phoenix
8. 2010: Back to back against Boston
9. 2016: 60 in his career-finaleComment

1) I waited for MJWizards to finish his Completed Classic Teams project and then started doing my own shoe and accessory edits. It took me about 1 1/2 weeks to do the teams from 1965-2010 so I really just started playing the game even though I've had it since release day. The time spent editing plus the time spent enjoying the game may equal me not buying 2K24.
2) We've been saying this for so long that at this point Idk if it's laziness or ignorance on 2K's part. It's such an easy concept yet an even easier thing to do: get classic players/teams correct once--just once--and copy and paste that info every year. If a teacher used the exact same plans every year, it might be frowned upon; if 2K did it for classic players, it would be celebrated.Comment

I'd love if this made it in there - get the animation of MJ talking to Kobe about 'feeling the defense with your legs'

Also, this'd be a good one:

My sentiments exactly Dave.
1) I waited for MJWizards to finish his Completed Classic Teams project and then started doing my own shoe and accessory edits. I'm the same in the fact I wait for MJ to finish his incredible rosters, (Honestly, his work in this community for retro heads is God tier) then deep dive in on tendencies and playbooks etc for every player/team. It takes forever simply because adult life take precedence and I don't have the luxury of sitting around all day/all night just to game.
It's why I normally buy a 2k, edit it full, then skip the next two or three years to simply enjoy the fruits of my labour. It's too much to have to do this every single year, which is why I scream from the rooftops that perhaps ONE DAY they can either get this right from day 1, or give us the opportunity to carry over roster saves from one game to the next.
Wishful thinking on both parts.-----------------------------------------

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
My editing usually takes a month or two max, and then I can play the game. And even that’s enough to convince me not to do it again or yearly. Too time consuming. I also meticulously update and fine tune my rosters all year in all kinds of ways, and I have 2K23 perfect bottom to top right now.
So I dunno. I really don’t want to do it again. And 2K23 is so good. It would be cool to get the Kobe tidbits as well, but being a Jordan fan 2K23 is the ultimate excuse to keep a game and not update as it’s the Jordan game. The whole vibe is MJ and that era Bulls.
It also makes me wonder if little special stuff like the 90’s Bulls jersey getting its proper warmups will be carried over to 2K24, or if that was only due to the Jordan stuff. I’m sure the 00’s Lakers jerseys will get their warmups in 24. Also those 90’s Bulls jerseys get the finals logo on them if you make finals in the modern era (not sure about the older eras) which is also due to the Jordan challenge tidbits carrying over. Not sure if that’ll make it into 24, while the 00’s lakers jersey finals logo of course will be in the game.
The only way to even remotely streamline my process of editing rosters is to take pictures of every single player accessories and tendencies etc and apply it into the next game. But even that takes weeks or months of pure time and dedication.Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Regarding the editing grind, my biggest investment of time has come from the year-to-year roster updates in MyEras (i.e. getting ready for the 1985-86 season, then the 1986-87 season, etc.).
I thought it might be tough to go over that same exact thing again next year but then I thought about the beauty of this mode is that it's kind of a choose-your-own-adventure sort of thing so I thought maybe I could just add a twist or two to make the journey feel fresh again. Maybe I'd have most of the league's transactions still play out true to life but I'd Butterfly Effect one element (like, say, having Michael Jordan go to Houston and Hakeem go to Chicago) and let things fly from there.
Then again, after beginning in 1984, I'm just now hitting 1992 so if 2K24 maybe any sort of improvements to the mode (say, authentic playoff court art or customizable all-star court art and jerseys), I probably wouldn't hesitate to buy 2K24 and just continue my Eras journey there, assuming gameplay hasn't lost its mind.Comment

I know this years game is almost up but this is a CAP I’ve not been happy with for a couple of years now. Finally got a version that I don’t hate.

Your caps have been a lifesaver. It got to the point that when I needed a young version of a player I'd just search your gamertag to see if you'd thrown one up there.Comment
