Am I late to the party (Ratings?)

Is there a comprehensive guide for exactly what ratings and sliders do? Do guys that mod the PC version have a PDF or something similar that they’ve compiled with this information?

I’m inquiring because I recently found out that the Blk Shed rating only pertains to run plays while the other blk ratings (finesse, power?, etc) only applies to pass plays.

I was previously under the impression that blk shed was “overall” ability to shed all blocks both pass and run, while finesse, power, etc was the probability of “how” the block would be shed (am I making sense here lol?).

Anyway, if we can get a guide (or start one) that would be great!

EA Sports has never released a comprehensive guide to the effects of all the ratings, no. Over time we were given breadcrumbs by various Madden devs on social media, but that trickle of info dried up as those devs either moved on to different jobs or stopped posting on socials.

Specific to Block Shedding: if I recall the last time that was explained correctly, that rating is checked when a defender is attempting to defeat a block on a running play. There is a separate check which determines how many chances a defender has to defeat a block during a play, and that involves the Strength rating. I have never been under the impression that BSH has any effect on passing plays; rather, I have understood the success of pass rush moves as governed by Power Moves (Bull Rush, Rip, Club) and Finesse Moves (Speed Rush, Spin, Swim [I think?]) ratings.

It would be fantastic if EA Sports were to publish a guide to the ratings. I assume we'll get it just as soon as they finish up the playbooks Gridiron Notes.

Years ago back when they use to have Prima Madden and NCAA guides, they had the definition of what all the ratings stood for. Well it suppose to stand for anyway. I know in the NCAA days I and Playmaker over the years in those forums wrote guides of what we discovered that they did pertaining to gameplay.

But unless something changed when they went to this generation:

1. Block shedding was for shedding run blocks and it was checked against Impact block rating that the offense had.

2. Power moves and finesse moves was for push rush and was checked against Pass block strength and pass block footwork ratings.

3. Run block strength determined how long the block could be held and run block footwork determined how far back a run blocker could push a defensive lineman back on running plays.
