Do attributes or team/playbook determine stats?

Maybe I read something wrong, but I thought they were making attributes matter more in franchise? To test this I started a franchise with the Chiefs. Immediately traded Mahomes, Kelce, Pacheco, and the top 2 WRs. Then simulated to the playoffs.

We finished under .500, but my 58 OVR QB Chris Oladokun finished the season with 4,400+ passing yards and 38 TDs. I haven't bought Madden since 2012, so maybe I'm way off here, but that seems very high for a 58 OVR.

were you in an online or offline franchise? for whatever reason, I think online gives you more realistic stats

Honestly, I'm not sure. I just went in and hit start franchise. I'll try this same thing with one that I'm sure is online. I didn't know there would be a difference. Thank you.

        Turns out it was online.

Offline seems a little better, actually. I did the same thing and this time he finished with 4,379 yards and 27 TDs with 39 INTs.

39 interceptions?!?! How is that even possible? Even if he didnโ€™t get benched with that level of ball security your defense would have to be historically bad for your offense to have the ball enough for your quarterback to throw for 4,379 yards with that many turnovers. Did you adjust any sliders change any settings during set up? If your being truthful with your results this sounds like a huge problem with sim stats

I didn't mess with any sliders. Just traded Mahomes and a bunch of his weapons.

I just ran it again, 1 online and 1 offline. All I did for this one was trade Mahomes and Gabbert. SO the QB is 3rd string, 56 OVR.

            Offline: 4,749 yards, 27 TDs, 31 INTs
            Online: 4,483 yards, 32 TDs, 21 INTs

Well the fact that the online results are at least in line with real NFL players is at least encouraging. But it is worrying that a 56 overall is able to perform that well while simming. Especially since you got rid of all of his weapons lol

My bad, the whole time I was on the last gen free trial. I downloaded the wrong one like an idiot. Running the same test on current gen now.

Playbooks have been determining sim stats since Madden 13. Doesn't matter if ya rookie QB is a 60 overall. If you give him chiefs playbook he will put up numbers. Give him Ravens he will get 200 attempts running while being 68 speed. Current and last gen

Yeah, thats why I was testing. Been seeing that it was supposed to stop this year.

I just made Brian Hoyer starting QB for the Ravens. He did finish the season with 151 rush attempts, but only 263 yards, 2 TD's, and averaged 1.7 yards/rush. So it did make him run a lot, but his stats reflected his poor running ability.

Man, you aren't the only one. I wonder if there is some issue with the Microsoft store defaulting to the Xbox One version for pre-install, because the same thing happened to me. Bought the X|S version, went to the option to pre-load it, and it pre-loaded the last gen version.

Super frustrating surprise for me when I booted up the Series X after a long day at work today. At least I had Baldur's Gate 3.
