The Madden 24 When Is It Safe To Start Your Franchise thread

Here we are again, game not ready on launch.

This thread is for us franchise players that want to start but can’t.

Issues that are making it unplayable:

Home field advantage isn’t turning off even if OFF in settings. A patch will fix this but we don’t know if that applies to existing franchises.

Created draft classes are completely broken. All players revert to the same default model.

Generated draft classes are broken, sapien player models are random and don’t match the players position. Physical features are broken.

Week 1 rosters are not yet released. (Obviously this is a user preference).

These issues for me prevent the mode from being playable for now. Will update as things become fixed.

I haven't seen an issue with generated draft classes outside of a few players. Am I missing a thread somewhere about them being completely random?

Player builds are random so a QB can look like a lineman and vise versa.

Yeah, I've seen the one or two off posted online. Haven't seen it widespread in my 3 classes so far.

          I’d check again.

Just simmed a season using default generated draft classes and looked through all the players.

First team I picked at random was the Raiders.

          220lb QB looks like 330lb
330lb LT looks like the QB

Every team I look at it’s the same. Body types are random.

Just played with the generated QB.

Seems to be an issue with gut size and that being bugged (assigned randomly). The QB has the gut of a 330lb linemen but his legs/arms etc look ok.

              More testing…

My 323lb generated linemen had a very thin waist. I dropped it to 322lb and his waist increase to a normal size. I was then able to then put it back to 323 and it was fine.

I then tried to alter my 220lb QB by messing with his weight slider. Didn’t work. His gut is set to maximum and nothing will alter that even putting his weight to minimum.

              The whole thing is broken.

I kind of chuckle at the “what are you doing when you first get the game” treads and folks talk about creating rosters, jumping into their franchise and all that stuff.

After 20+ years, i just don’t know what to tell you if you continue to think you’re getting a “playable” game at launch. But here we are again.

Same way it was in M23 in order to get rid of the awkward pear shape 90% of the o-linemen had. Silly it's still here.

I'll start when we can turn momentum off.

Do we know when that’s coming?

They did promise this as a thing this year, right, so not having it available is technically a bug, right?

I only ask because I’m wondering why it’s not on the list of stuff they said they were working on in the other thread about early updates if it was a promised adjustment that wasn’t delivered at launch.

I actually really like M24 so far, but I don’t wanna be hoodwinked on this one, as I loathe HFA and momentum as features. I also don’t like the game plan choices/boosts at all and wish I could turn those off big time.

What’s funny is we always get the game and then have to do a million updates ourselves almost to the point that when the game is finally playable we’re exhausted from hours of tweaking (wash and repeat for the last 14 years)

As a PC user, likely won't be starting one until modding tools are available and we start to see community fixes. I just hope we can use mods in an online franchise like we could back in Madden 19. If not, may have to resort to file sharing with my buddy like the old days and just using something like Parsec if we ever play against one another.

I’m gonna start my franchise when I can create and edit players without 31 years experience showing up. Can’t even change jersey number in main roster’s without that happening

In theory, if you wanted to start now and were willing to do a bit of extra work later in order to do so, could you not just find the most relevant prospects with wonky builds, and edit their appearance to fix them? Or worst case, even edit another player that wouldn’t be missed into them with a fitting body type, and tank the originals ratings to get rid of him?

Unless something has changed this year, I don’t believe there’s any unique commentary that you’d lose with option 2, either. It’s always vague and generic with rookies from what I remember.

Is there any reason that one or both of these workarounds couldn’t work?
