How does Madden 24 run on Steam Deck?

Anyone out there using a Steam Deck for Madden 24? I am still playing Madden 22 on my Steam Deck (which works fine). Before I think about moving to 24, I figured I better make sure the Steam Deck can handle it! TIA for any thoughts!

I think the anti cheat software keeps Madden 24 from being playable on the Steam Deck unless you install Windows OS on it. I'm pretty sure it was the same with FIFA 23.

It doesn’t! I tried, it keeps saying something about wine not supported or something like that. So I was researching and found sites that said for Steam deck it doesn’t matter if you have steam os or windows it won’t run. Something to do with EA’s AntiCheat which can’t be removed on Steam Deck.

I'm dual booting Windows 10 since that's the only way the game runs thanks to the EA anticheat. Windows 11 won't work (you need to enable secure boot which isn't possible) and obviously SteamOS doesn't work either.

The game runs pretty poorly, even at a 15W TDP, GPU set to 1600Mhz and the CPU set to max, on the lowest settings in-game with the frame rate locked to 30fps. It stutters in-game and especially during cutscenes, though often you can get through the play without noticeable slowdowns with the aforementioned settings.

EA is supposedly (according to Clint Oldenburg on Twitter/X) working on an update to fix the lag on PC and it seems like the lag is especially affecting people with AMD chips so there's a pretty good chance that's what's happening here on the Deck. Fingers crossed I guess. Even with the performance issues it's still fun to play on a handheld so I'm glad I got it with the EA Play discount. I'd recommend doing the EA Play 10-hour trial to see if you can tolerate the lag, otherwise just wait for the patches and hope that works out better.
