Re: Crimson Desert

The game has had an interesting development journey.

Black Desert Online has a fun combat system, but the monetization of the game was a huge turn off.

Originally Crimson Desert was going to be a followup to BD:O, which would have been an instant pass for me. Now it's kind of in that hybrid area that makes me think of games like Destiny or Warframe. Still may not be completely accurate comparisons though.

The company knows how to make great combat and the they always manage impressive visuals. It will depend on how they monetize the game.

I watched that video and it looked incredible. My understanding is that it's not a MMO but a single player game. Day one buy for me if that's true.

        Re: Crimson Desert

Watched and loved this trailer and the word is 2024 but take that with a grain of salt. It supposedly will have a single player open world but the beef and potatoes will be its multi-player. For additional info for Crimson.

I remember thinking seeing this title awhile back and after reading the IGN article on them at Gamescom, it triggered my memory. I loved its reveal back then, the pandemic hit and the world changed. It's a very ambitious play by the Devs, and still has last generations as a platform.

Pearl Abyss first revealed Crimson Desert back in 2019. The South Korean developer behind MMORPG Black Desert Online also revealed Plan 8 and DokeV at the time. It's been a while since we've heard about Crimson Desert, as Pearly Abyss delayed the game indefinitely in July 2021.

          Re: Crimson Desert

          Some useful information we're learning;

Is Crimson Desert a sequel to Black Desert Online?
No, it isn’t a Black Desert sequel. It was originally planned as a Black Desert prequel, but developers Pearl Abyss have since suggested that it is not especially connected to Black Desert, and instead is its own standalone IP which shares some themes.

We know then that it’s not directly linked to Black Desert’s story, but they may share the same universe. Or they could be completely different. With the reveal trailer sticking religiously to a gameplay highlight reel format, and the story summary on the game’s website avoiding references to Black Desert, we can’t say for sure whether the games share a universe. Seems like you won't need any Black Desert experience to play it, though.

What’s the story of Crimson Desert?
We still don't have much information to work with, but Pearl Abyss has given us some background on the story itself. Set in the world Pywel, you play as a mercenary in Crimson Desert, recruiting allies to your cause as you travel to different regions.

There’s a few snippets on the game’s website, but the clearest summary of the story is this: "The King of Demeniss, Unifier of Lands, lies in a coma. In the ensuing power vacuum, those who have suffered under his iron rule now seek to exploit his weakness. Some who have felt the oppression of his conquests seek only independence, but others dream of gaining their own absolutist rule."

The new open world action game isn't a direct sequel to Black Desert Online, but expect some similarities.

I'm all in with Crimson Desert. Below is another game from Pearl Abyss a while back which I assume will be their next game. Was announced almost four years ago.

We've been teased for 5 years but there's a light........What a gaming year next year is!

It may have taken a few years, but Crimson Desert is finally releasing in 2025. That's right, one of the most talked about new games since it was first announced in 2019 is heading our way after its bumpy development journey.

Pearl Abyss' hack n' slasher Crimson Desert is coming in 2026, and it's looking like a bloody good time already

I guess I've really been out of the loop on this for a while. I thought that we were going to get the fast paced combat of BDO.

Hopefully the open world elements make the game really feel alive.

Some recent information; If I had to bet, I'd say June.

A multiplayer mode will be released after launch, compared to GTA Online.

The single-player should take about 50 to 80 hours to beat.

                          Crimson Desert story and setting

Crimson Desert takes place in the war-torn, medieval realm of Pywel which is split into many regions, each with its own class of people fighting to survive their harsh reality. Pywel’s King was taken ill and lies in a coma, leaving the people of the land to seek independence or build their own power in the ensuing chaos. You must rise above and become a respected mercenary, seeking out other fighters throughout the land to help keep the most despicable and power-hungry foes in their place.

Outside of this realistic and archaic world appears to be something far more extraordinary, as a post on the Crimson Desert site states that “tales are spoken of beings from a distant world, perhaps even a world that exists in a time yet to be.” Given some of the gameplay clips we unravel below, it seems uncovering this new world is part of your Crimson Desert story – alongside bringing peace to the land.

The Crimson Desert release date will be sometime in Q2, 2025, according to an article from InsightKorea. This is a delay of around a year from the initially planned release date.
