EA FC24 Match Day Presentation is gone….

EA Vancouver has finally blanked EA FC 24.

Back drop what has become a trend at EA is cutting the presentation fat that made games unique. Madden was the first no pre game hype, no coin toss, just Boom and you in kickoff.

NHL followed suit last year, while FIFA at the time held onto all of its pre match build ups. Team walk outs, formation screen and lineups and unique league broadcast packages that EA proudly touted the last few years. Come EA FC24 and all of that is gone. Soccer was the one last EA title that held my immersion because of that. Hearing that European anthem after years of trying to qualify was rewarding. Or playing in stadiums that had unique match day elements or anthems, looking at you Liverpool and West Ham. Now all of this gone in a flash. Sports gaming with immersion at EA is just plain bad. I like for my games no matter sport to relic what see on tv in terms of game presentation and atmosphere. That is all being stripped away, because I understand the business model, time spent on presentation means lest time to work on the details of the money grabbing modes. This trend is going to push me from getting new sports titles if the franchise modes are going to be treated like tag on modes just to say they are there. But there in a bare bones way. Another one bites the dust.

One thing that I cannot help but think, it is mighty funny that the very first year the FIFA name is removed that this feature disappears to. I cannot help but think that FIFA wanted anthems, walk outs and match build as a part of their partnership. Now they are gone so are this game immersion elements.

I just watched a bunch of videos on youtube and I have to admit it's awful. So this completely unrealistic and overdone intro with ridiculous camera angles, using animation that isn't in the game, and then straight to the match??? No thank you. I have no interest in this action movie version of what sports look like. I'll be sticking with 19, 16, and 23 all with mods. And honestly, that's consistent with all my sports gaming. I don't play any current sports game anymore. The Show is the only one and it's only because I can't get good mods for earlier baseball games.

I don’t mind it actually. You still get club anthems and European intros. It’s just done in a different way. The line ups appear pre game in the pre match reports.

I'm normally not one to defend EA Sports, but...I can kinda sorta?, see why they went this way?

Yes, for the elite clubs, the pregame presentation in 23 is soaking wet. Getafe CF's anthem is a banger, for instance, and if a crowd rocker like that doesn't get you in the mood for some high octane metric football, check your pulse, you may not have a heart.

But for lower tier/less prestigious leagues like, say, 3. Liga, or MLS, they just had no audio to run there, so visually, it's just players walking out and standing there in silence. Hold X to Skip, and crawl the lineups.

You could argue, well enough, that it's possible to make the lesser leagues look better, without nerfing the presentation at the top. That's a fair point, and you can take it.

But then, how many levels down could they enhance the presentation, for parts of the game that the majority of players may never choose to see?

At the very least, having keyed environments that can be dressed for any team, from Bayern München to Colchester United, and then used for dynamic set pieces, does improve the fly-in for smaller clubs and smaller leagues. Or, on the other side of the coin, you could say it hides some of the inevitable gaps in presentation, which the full walkout only emphasizes.

It's definitely a different look, but there does seem to be a method to it.

I agree with with in terms of the smaller clubs, but over the last couple of years great strides were made in the larger leagues to get them as authentic as possible. But to lose all that for some rotating Cyrus scenes is mind blowing. It is like this trend let’s just cut to the match so that kind of like Madden all games or matches feel like a string of exhibition games. No champion league or other European pre match ceremonies. It makes it so soul less now. I could count on soccer to be the game that kept all the stuff that make each match unique.

Yes that report gives you formation and starters but if I remember correctly you have no idea who is on the bench.

I don't mind it at all. Now if they had these intros then straight to the line up presentation, that would be great. The walkouts got a bit stale after a while. Same thing every game.

I couldn't possibly agree with you more. I have watched the walkout of every match, the pregame tunnel footage of every match, the standing in the pitch at the start of every match for over 20 years as a football fan of my team in the Premier League. I ahve never grown tired of it. I WANT that in my video game. I want it to be like it is on tv, not like it is when I arrive late to the stadium. The drama is gone, the build up that only live sports can provide is gone. I remember NCAA Football 14, as amazing of a game as it is, had a pregame intro that showed footage from the matchup of that game that you hadn't even played yet! It was ridiculous! It was like it was going into the future to show you clips of the game you were about to play. I noticed Madden does that as well now.
This is why NHL lost me years ago, why NBA 2K lost me a few years ago as well because the TV presentation is lifeless but the in-season menus give you no sense that you're in the midst of a season with stats and standings, it all seems completely disconnected to the action. I'm glad I read your post because after seeing the gameplay footage on youtube, I will definitely be staying with older games and mods.

Yes exactly. They duped me with EA FC24. As I have completely gone back FIFA 23 and having a blast. Those cuts scenes would have been nice if the full intro packages stayed. But the it is now is a hard no for me. The build creates the immersion for me. To me this just laziness on the game companies for spending more time cash flowing rather than spend time breathe some life in these lifeless franchise modes we have now. It was I read in the EA forums franchise is what made these companies and games but now the forsaken all of that and US that loved the games for franchise just to make ultimate team the glory mode. No not me.

They're just trimming the overall game down to where eventually it'll just be UT and online comp. And people who play those modes skip through everything cinematic because they play like 200 matches a day.

But for now they will sell the game for $70 every year. Eventually it'll be wittled down so much that it'll be obvious that it should (and will) be F2P. The gameplay is already built around competitive online being the #1 priority.

And yet they somehow remain immune from the criticism that 2K gets for being so damn pay 2 win and gross because "that's just FIFA." But that's a slightly (only slightly) different topic.

I was just thinking the same exact thing after my last post. That is exactly what they want to do. Make us franchise players surrender and plat ultimate team. I do see becoming free to play. But to get the full experience you will need pay for those features that will exceed the standard 70 dollars.

2k has caught some heat for how much the pay has become a factor in how competitive your my team or my player is. I don’t play those modes hardly at all strictly franchise guy. It is ridiculous that not only you have to buy the game but you have make another investment just to compete. This stuff needs to be banned, loot boxes took some heat a few years ago but now it is out of control. It is enough pre game material in that game right that keeps me pacified LOL. But the moment they pull an EA in their franchise mode I will be done with them too.

You don't get European intros. I'm Arsenal in the champions league and it's a silly 10 second cut scene then straight to the game. It's a shocking move from EA. They have killed career mode.

This is the point. I totally get that online players don't want a 2-minute intro, so they skip it. But offline players aren't in a rush to play more to win points. We are just enjoying the game. There is no need to rush things.

The added home intro songs in FIFA 23 for all La Liga teams and Bundesliga teams, plus Premier League teams, are only to be deleted (or hidden on the best occasions).
