Yeah I honestly doubt there would be such a limitation especially on another generation of consoles. Lmao. They even removed characters from last game so those slots are already available.

Pretty impressive how Dana made up an excuse for it on the spot though.

It logically makes some sort of senses because A) it's been true in the past and B) there is an argument that some folks don't want to download a bloated game due to unused fighters that don't even fight in the UFC anymore.

I'm not one of those people. You could keep Erick Silva in there for all care as long as it doesn't prevent new fighters from being added.

But I could see it needing to be considered and I don't expect him to be an expert on the video game nuisances off hand.

You guys are putting way too much thought into something Dana came up with on the top of his head lmao. Obviously there is room for more fighters. There aren't any new fighters because they were still adding fighters to UFC 4 even as early as a few months ago, this is just the same roster minus a few people

this is also true, poatan is a new game in the ufc and is already in the game Bo Nickal too... tha game has room for new fighters but the cast is sorta updated too

For sure. I just thought it was a little bit funny that he even took it slightly serious.

The only merit I give it is because most things he doesn't care about at all or doesn't really deal with, he's pretty quick to dismiss.

I find it a little interesting that the question interested him enough to respond the way he did.

I'm not waiting or holding my breathe though.

Think of all the playable characters and CAP's in these other sports titles...especially the ones under EA's roof. Not trying to get into the bread and butter about likeness and uniqueness and mechanics etc. Just generally speaking, those games hold huge numbers of playable athletes. I think CAP slots alone in NHL24 is double the size of the total UFC 5 roster and all caf slots combined.

It's "limitless" to a degree, but I'm sure it costs $$ to make the room to fit them all in there. It's blatantly obvious that EA doesn't wanna spend so much as an extra nickel on their bazturd child EA UFC.

When Dana shopped the license a decade ago, he claimed EA told him "MMA isn't a real sport." Those same shotcallers must still be sitting in their corner offices because they dont give a fuuuuuug about this franchise.

EA Does this on purpose, if they added all characters now, there wont be any cool updates with fighters. they hold back too show off something new. Next game you will see a revamped clinch system and ground and pound probably. Alot more cage positions

Gotta say I hate the idea of characters being removed, especially characters who might not class as legends. Especially guys like Sanchez and Maia.

In all honesty, it's the idea that we usually get the surprise of "new fighters" at launch being taken away that stings.

But if we knew it was coming, it wouldn't be as bad.

If they committed to doing 3 fighters every month for let's say, two years (24 months) and then released a new game, that's 72 new fighters in UFC 6 that weren't at launch of UFC 5.

If they then kept the majority of fighters regardless of UFC active/inactive status, you'd have a really cool mix of current, past and UFC legend/iconic type fighters to mix and match with.

You'd probably have almost 300 plus unique characters at that point to fill a roster with.

Depends on what you want from a roster but I'd mostly be OK with that.

Funny, but I would not want to see a lot of the fighters removed. In my opinion it is still fun to see match-ups between former UFC fighters and new / current UFC fighters. I still think it is a big shame to see the UFC HW division without names like:
- Mirko Cro Cop
- Frank Mir
- Brock Lesnar
- Francis Nngannou (In understand)
- Josh Barnett
- Roy Nelson etc.
