    Clinch Question

Are there any controls that will keep your opponent in the clinch? ...in other words, denying his ability to back out?

....also, if you are the one in his clinch, can you deny his advances?

Most importantly is the first question however; can I keep the opponent from backing out?

No, that's the whole design of the clinch game. Land a couple shots and break it up. It will auto-breakup after a timer if the opponent doesn't back-up/punch his way out of it

That's the extant of the clinch game. In other words, there isn't one

You just exposed the whole clinch system of UFC 4 and UFC 5 with two questions.
Clinch is easily the biggest weakness of the game right now along with the unlimited stamina.
And to answer your questions. No you can't keep someone on the clinch nor can you deny his transition to single under.

You don't even wanna know the rationale for why they scrapped a pretty serviceable clinch game in 3 and then did nothing at all with it with in the 3 years between 4-5. Pure nonsense.

          Ha!

It's probably just as ridiculous as the logic behind using the ragdoll physics mechanics which doesn't even allow for Finish the Fight over the way they had it when you COULD Finish the Fight.

I gave up when I heard that posted by TapSnap in that thread.

Ufc clinch game since 4 has gone downhill. Casuls ruined it.

I understand the rationale for catering to casuals. I just don't get the decisions where they already have catered to casuals (i.e. stand and bang mode or "x" to skip thru intros), but then turn around and yank cage grappling from MMA mode or cut a portion of Bruce Buffers iconic fighter introductions.
