I can't figure out how to do it on NHL 2k7 the only I have left on my old PS3. I don't mind getting a later NHL 2k game if those games let you swap in a classic team to play in franchise mode.
Do any of the NHL 2k games let you put classic teams into franchise mode?

Do any of the NHL 2k games let you put classic teams into franchise mode?
Question? Can you swap in the classic teams for franchise mode in NHL 2k8 or later for PS3? I can't do it on NHL 2K7. I'd kill to play the 91/92 Blackhawks in franchise mode or the early 1980's Islanders in franchise mode. Also the 93 Sabres or 97 Flyers would be a lot of fun to play.

Not as far as I know. You could use the 2K8 editor, but you can't directly move players from classic teams to normal teams, as that will crash Franchise Mode. So it's going to be a bit of a convoluted process to export the players from one save and then re-import them into another so the editor recreates them correctly. 2K8 is also a difficult game to learn.
If all you really want is to play with a different roster, you could look for rosters from previous years. Not sure what's available for 2K7. For 2K8, I've released rosters for 1995, 2005, and 2017-2019 that I can confirm are compatible with Franchise Mode (and were designed for the PS3). There are also a few others floating around that may or may not be as compatible.
It's a shame there isn't more support for 2K7; it was a really solid and unique entry in the series.
