    Re: NBA 2K24 MyPlayer Thread

Really not loving the Kyrie experience. Last 2 games we lost, he shot 9-24 and 8-25. We were down 12 against Bucks, then when I got subbed back in we were up 6. They got lead back, Kyrie was trying to give the game away. I was able to shut down Giannis in the end to force OT. We had a chance, but Kyrie kept bricking shots. I'm seriously considering moving him to 6th man. He does well when Luka is on Bench. His problem is that ends up taking way to many 3pt shots or contested shots. That game was weird because I only had 7 shot attempts that went into OT and 2 of the shots were blocked by Giannis early in game. Luka and Kyrie had 50 combined shots.

I got the Off Ball coach perk. It's nice being able to be adjust defensive settings. But, I want be able to adjust the settings that are locked to PGs. I have my player starting at Center. What I might try to do is have my PF start at PG, while having the lineup the same. Offense should run the same and I can adjust matchups on defense. I'm just hoping I can change gameplan. One thing I don't like is when AI automatically doubles on mismatches and gives up a wide open three. Especially when I'm guarding someone. I rather have no help.

Right now, my priority is grinding badges. Once, I get my badges to my liking, I'm only playing key games after that. I'm playing 10 minute quarters. I don't know whether it is how I have rotation set up, but I'm only playing 25 minutes. Which I don't mind lol. I want these games to go by.

Kyrie will have the occasional bad game for me. I've also ran him as 6th man. He averaged like 23-24 PPG which is great. Only problem is no one else on the roster can really do BETTER. No one is really LOCKDOWN enough to justify being out there for defense. And your other alternatives like Seth Curry and Jaden Hardy shoot better off the bench than in the starting lineup.

I also have on court coach. What settings are you wanting to do? I believe you just have to have the ball in your hand to get those options you want. I don't recommend taking the ball out of Lukas hands.

I guess I'll put it here, I can't find the Rec thread.

Played my first Rec game in a month or so. First Rec game since I figured out my jumper in career.

10/10 from the floor 5/5 from deep. 25 points and player of the game. Tbf the other team was pretty bad and my matchup kept leaving me open.

But it felt good to get out there and get some good looks. If Max this player out (92 OVR) I can get my midrange pretty nasty. But that means I'll have better competition also. Defense feels a bit sluggish compared to career but my man wasn't going off on me or anything. He got one 3 I let him have to see if he could hit. He didn't score a bucket the rest of the half.

3-2 my first 5 games online today. Still shooting the rubber off the ball but because I'm not high ranked they don't like to pass to me. Last 2 games they put me at the 4 also. Last year I could hold my own but they keep giving me like pure rim protectors at the 4. My last guy was 6'11 and I held him to 3/7 from the floor but he kept boarding over my head. I've had a few blocks and I play pretty good D. I just feel like it's not very fun. I miss running with a full 5 but half those guys don't play anymore. I don't like when I miss my first shot and have to play the whole rest of the game without sniffing it.

I just want to distribute the shot attempts more evenely. I have Kyrie's minutes the same, plus he should cook against backup PGs. That way, we have consistent offense on the floor. But as you said, there isn't a good alternative. I have Green starting at SG and Williams at SF for spacing. I put Lively back at Center, needed the offensive rebounding. Only thing about starting at PF, I play more minutes than at Center.

I want to change gameplans. For example. Crash rebound, play through star/second star, pace, Switch everything defense, no help defense. When I did the Family Flashbacks, it was definitely there for Truck, can't remember if it was there for Prince. Not sure if it is locked to PGs or if I have to fully finish the Haliburton quest. Those are settings I would want to change.

I'm still undecided on how I feel about the badge system. On one hand, if it's badges that matches your playstyle/strengths, you can quickly progress and retain badges. But if it isn't a strength, it's hard to progress badges, especially when they quickly regress. My defensive badges are almost done. I just have to get Challenger from Gold to HOF, Fast Feet from Silver to Gold, and 94 Feet from Silver to HOF. I might work on Ankle Braces, not sure if it works. Never seen the badge activate or even progress at all. But I still feel guys are getting space on moves on me at Bronze. But, offensive badge progress has been harder. I think Catch and Shoot and Slippery off ball is the badges I leveled up. My Shot attempts haven't been consistent and all my practices have been geared towards defensive badges. So after I'm done with the defensive badges, I have to focus on shooting badges.

I already have an idea of what team I want to play on. While Luka has been good, he is a defensive liability and I want to play on a more defensive team. I'm actually leaning towards Chicago. Lonzo is still playing in MyCareer. Depending on what they do in game with DeRozan's expiring, I'm leaning towards them. Ideally they both walk and they sign a star level player at SG. Ideally I would start Ball-Caruso-Lavine-Me-Vuc.

That's what I was saying about the year 2 trades. I can almost always get Steven Adams for Dwight Powell every time. Steven had 30 rebounds for me a couple times. He's great at offensive rebounds also. Plus no one shoves him around. He doesn't get a lot of blocks but hes a solid defender around the rim.

I wish you could get a Mitchell Robinson, but he's like untouchable. I've also had it where the Mavs draft a shot blocker. But I definitely understand.

I'm still in my first 25 games. Kyrie, Williams, and Hardy are all injured. I'm having to give Exum and Curry more minutes. Now that you have OCC you could start Exum at the 2 and just assign his matchup to Luka's man. I started him one game, he almost had a triple double. I just love having Seth out there with Luka. Seth's jumper is butter. Plus he has pretty good vision.

I play the SF so my teams are always top 5 in OPP FG%. I don't average a bunch of blocks but I'm about 1 and 1 for both

Is there a there a certain requirement to unlock the trade influencer in year 2? With AI Teammates now being reliable, there's guys that I'm already pre-targeting. Guys like Delon Wright(who locked up Luka in a recent loss we had), someone Iike Steven Adams or Drummond, maybe one of the 2Kgenerated rookies who seems like they have a high ceiling.

Once I max some of my offensive badges, I just playing key games. I'm almost done maxing SWB. My SWB cap is 62, but it has been a drastic difference from 25 to 58. Next, I will focus on Mid Range. I think my cap for that is 72 to get Bronze Middy Magician. I just want to be able to have a less one dimensional offense

                  72 middie is Silver.

You have to win the championship your first year in order to get trades. On top of that, I feel like you may have to play a certain amount of games also. I've rushed my rookie season before. Specifically, I think you have to play 50 games in a season in order for the GM to trust you. I've had it where my second season, I couldn't get a single trade.

Silver Middy Magician would be ideal paired with other shooting badges like Catch and Shoot, Open Looks, Claymore would make that a consistent shot especially coming from a Dimer PG

The 50 games part, I can do. Might need to switch my self back to starting center, so I'll play less minutes. The championship part might be the harder part

I just had my favorite game so far. This is my second game with Kyrie as the 6th man. We had a game against Clippers. With me nearly maxing my important defensive badges, I'm starting to feel like the lockdown defender I want to be. Through 3 quarters I locked Kawhi to 4-15 shooting. We were down 12 when I got subbed back in. After a few buckets(including 2 back to back 3's by me), we got it down to a 4 point deficit. Then Luka got hot and got takeover. I literally kept spamming Quick Iso when Luka got the ball. With him on takeover and Harden guarding, he scored 10 straight points. I even got double takeover, and still kept passing Luka the ball. He finished with 34 points. We went on a 32-10 run to finish the game. Kyrie had an efficient 15 points off the bench. I like Lively back in the lineup because he does offer offensive rebounding and gets the occasional blockm.
We just need more perimeter defense. I like Josh Green, but I rather him come off the bench.

Do you run Luka post ups? Luka is pretty nasty in the post.

My favorite plays are when someone dumps to Luka and the D collapses. I'm usually wide and don't typically have to call for the ball. You being the 4 I would imagine you get 5-10 screens called for you. After you set a screen (I know you prolly won't roll) but you can try and get the open look or catch, tell Luka to Cut if he's not already or post up with L1 then Luka's icon, then X for post.

I get a TON of mismatches that way.

                        Re: NBA 2K24 MyPlayer Thread

I just turned on 2k Smart Play. I like the play it calls compared to the normal feature. It does calls a lot of Luka Post ups. I like Kyrie coming off the bench. He has been a consistent 25 point guy against bench guys and Luka gets more touches. We just had a game against Wisards where Delon Wright shut Luka down for 0-7 in the first quarter. Then Kyrie came in for last 4 minutes of 1st and scored a quick 12. Then after the first, Luka went 10-14 for 26 points and Kyrie had 35 points. That's a game where I want someone like Delon Wright as a teammate. He has 91 Perimeter D and good enough badges where he will make a star work for there points. I moved Grant Williams back to the bench and moved Hardaway to starter. He's definitely a chucker, but he is someone that can get buckets.

I nearly maxed my defensive badges. All I have that is important is getting 94 feet and Workhorse from Gold to HOF and work on Ankle Braces from Silver to HOF. I want to work on Interceptor, but I can't even trigger the intercept animation. Even in drills, I can't trigger it. I need to work on shooting badges. The issue now is that my drill requirements got harder nd I can't get better than 1 star in drills. As far as my rookie season, I'm just focusing on playing 50 games. It seems harder to get your teammate grade to A- or better. In the past, it was so easy to A+ grades just by doing the dirty work. I think I'm about 25+ games in. I maxed my off Reb from 45-70, it gives me Post Playmaker which comes in handy. I'm at 91, but just have Driving Layup and dunk and Medium left from minimum rating. They just released the Season 3 Trendsetter rewards which includes 10K VC, 10 game skill boosts for all skills, and the 1 hour double XP, that should help.

Just by going to MyTeam and opening the Trendsetter Rewards Pack. There were packs for the first 2 seasons and I want to say Season 3 is the last one with the Trendsetter rewards pack. It came in handy saving up before I started and the 10k VC will get me to the next upgrade once I unlock it.

I have never willingly launched my team. Lol

I summed about 10 games to get everyone healthy. THJ averaged 8ppg for that whole stretch. Weird how the guy can drop 30 in a quarter when I play with him, but sim stats are so different.

Just held POR scoreless for the first 5 minutes. We're up 15 to start the 2nd. I always have good team D regardless of our individual numbers.

You may want to slide up to the 3 if you want your defensive badges. Matter of fact, you could slide you to SF and switch your matchup with Luka so you guard the ball. That'll help get all your perimeter badges. 94 won't trigger unless you get a hipride animation passed the hash. So around halfcourt or just straight off the inbound will help. Ankle braces was tough to get Silver and that was on a PG build I had.

Pick dodger should also fire a lot more when you're guarding the ball. Derek Jones Jr should be fun to watch in the starting lineup. He'll grab a few boards and can jump out of the gym.

                              Luka
                              Green
                              You
                              Jones Jr
                              Lively

That's a ton of lobs for Luka.

That's what I've been doing. Unless, I'm playing a star PF, I usually put myself on the star wing or even PG. Stacking badges really make for powerful results. 94 feet + Immovable Force + Clamps+ Fast Feet + Workhorse is a strong combo. There's time I can get steals in the backcourt just by the player dribbling in front of me and them losing the ball. Usually when my matchup is the inbounder, I quickly try to guard the PG before my matchup passes halfcourt just to trigger 94 feet. There was only two games where Ankle Braces actually triggered. But that was when I was guarding a guard. I got it to Siver. I focus on doing drills after every game to grind badges. I do have they Winner Takes All performance multiplier and Overdrive, so I'm a few games paway from maxing Workhorse and 94 feet.

                                I don't know why Lively has a 58 3pt and 95 Spot Up 3pt tendency. He ends up taking 1-3 3pt shots a game
