CPU QB play in the pocket

Is there anyway to fix qb cpu play in the pocket? I posted a video. The qb should of stepped up in the pocket but tried to scramble wide instead.

Aside from upping the pass block slider to give them more time, I have not found a way. Probably a script thing.

I’ve had my eye on this issue as well, and here’s what I think I see.

When the HUM pass rushers get a win vs. the OL too early in the passing sequence, the CPU QB bails and behaves erratically.

The best remedy seems to be giving them more time in the pocket via the pass blocking slider, as Instant Classic suggested. This isn’t a perfect solution, but I think it’s the most effective one for mitigating this particular issue.

You can see in the video that the RDT gets his win while the QB is still dropping back and setting up, more or less, and this triggers a bail animation. That’s basically the behavior I’m seeing in my own games, too.

Ideally, pass rush in Madden would involve less binary outcomes and better AI responses, but I think this is the what and why of the matter.

I haven't messed around with the traits to see if that makes a difference.

I'm sure raising the cpu pass blocking does help some but you don't want to negate your pass rush to the point you're not getting 2 or 3 sacks a game or any pressure for that matter.

Qb AI has never been great in any version other yhan 16.At least they scramble and aren't statues.I figure if the comp.pct. is legit then we're good.

The logic with the time left isn't always there in this regard because instead of a hail mary attempt they through it away with no time remaining.

Edit all qbs to be improvisors. Also turn on the throws ball away trait and don’t give anyone the Oblivious sense pressure trait.

It’s the behavior tree logic for non-scrambler quarterbacks. Its is too simple and dumb. The logic is basically to “move away” or in the opposite direction of the perceived pressure, and that’s the only movement logic for those quarterback types. This is why you see them run backwards when pressure comes (this problem isn’t as bad now because of more animations allowing them to get rid of the ball quicker), not because of great logic updates.

Does the throw the ball away trait still effect QB’s like Lamar Jackson in a bad way or did they fix that problem?

I’m still on xbox one madden 23, but I have a friend that’s got next gen and the improvisor thing works. I’m unfamiliar with the throw ball away trait being a problem for scramblers like Lamar. What was the malfunction?
