Madden 24 franchise mode: Best quarter length, etc.?

I received a PS5 for Christmas, which means NCAA '14 on the PS3 is no longer the only game I'm playing.

I'm playing Madden for the first time since Madden '09. In NCAA Football, I've always used nine-minute quarters to get a realistic number of plays. What seems to work best in Madden '24? I seem to be a little light on the number of plays, possibly because I try to establish the ground game, which drains the clock.

Something new (to me) I also noticed in the settings was something about the number of seconds that can go down between plays (I think that's what it is, and mine is set at 20). Will that affect the number of plays?

I have a million questions, as everything about this game seems foreign to me on a PS5 after being on a PS3 exclusively since 2007, but I'll stick with quarter length for now.

Personally, I play 15-minute quarters, with 12 second run off.

Are you aiming to have your total plays match real life average or the sim stats averages? In franchise mode there are a little less plays per game than real life.

15/13 quarter/acc play clock works for me.
        12/20 will also work well.
I see quite a few on here use 10min/no acc clock.

They all will work quite well to get close to total number of plays.

        I use 15/13 because I’m a stickler for playing 15 minute quarters.

I go with 9 minutes, NO clock runoff. I get 50-60 total offensive snaps per game. Last night I had 58 offensive snaps in my playoff game.

I personally don't like clock runoff b/c I don't think it gives you enough time to audible or hot route a potential receiver if needed.

in my CFM, I use 10 minutes/15 second run off. Drives my OCD up the wall with that time but I feel it's the best as it's not too short or too long. I keep messing with sliders to make it more a defensive battle and eventually that might change.

How are your end of game stats for total yards and plays and such?

Good point. I guess I'd prefer to hit real-life averages unless the result is I end up leading the league in everything and winning every award, like happens in NCAA '14.

Game 1: Lions 50 pass plays, Chiefs 37 pass plays. Lions 22 runs, Chiefs 10 runs. Total plays: Lions 72, Chiefs 47 (I got pick-sixed a couple times, so I had the ball more). Lions 517 yards, Chiefs 487 yards.

If you go for real life averages then your offensive output is going to be higher than most CPU teams and you'll be in the running for more awards than you probably should be on that side of the ball. On the flip side, your defense will also see more snaps, so they'll have more chances to accumulate stats like tackles and sacks, but your overall defensive rankings will skew towards the bottom of the league more than they should.

The simulated stats have the games around 10ish plays shorter per team compared to real life, so I'd recommend you shoot to match them at 50-60 plays/game per team. 10 minute quarters with accelerated clock off or on and at 20 seconds will get you there depending on your fatigue and injury sliders. Only reason those matter is the game is not accurate to real life and injuries stop the game clock whereas in real life they do not, so that leads to more plays being ran than should be. I personally am running with 10 minute quarters with accelerated clock on at 20 seconds in my current franchise and am seeing good results, but I also have fatigue at 100 and injuries at 42 on Competitive style.

                      I agree with this take.

I play on simulation with fatigue at 70 and injuries 40 though.

yep that's what I run as well. 9 minutes no clock run off. I get the same amount of plays as well. and the cpu as well.

That's also the same exact reason for no clock run off. I need time to make adjustments sometimes.

I've been using 10m/20accel forever. For total plays it's perfect vs the CPU in simmed games, if the CPU would rush more during played games, stats would be perfect too.
