It's part of the story.

Rock and Reigns trying to "take over" because as Rock said tonight, there's one royal family (it's theirs). Now Cody coming in with a change of heart (or possibly being manipulated by Rock last week) and now going after Reigns despite what Rock might have told him.

Yeah, it'll all could've been a 'work' to build everyone into a frenzy (and distract from the disgusting allegations against Vince).

It worked and they've made Cody, 'his story' and the rematch between him & Reigns more meaningful.

Either way it's been fun and unpredictable which are somethings modern WWE usually lacks.

This actually fits with what happened on Smackdown, yeah. Cody said he took advice from, among others, Rock. Rock talks Cody into giving up the WM match. Cody’s conflicted but goes along with it. Then tonight Rock says his royal family line, Cody’s like “…the ****?” and takes his WM match back.

I was more hyped for Reigns/Rock and Cody/Rollins than I am Cody/Reigns because I simply don't believe that Cody will win the title. Maybe the match but I can't see Reigns losing when he's 7 months away from being the 3rd longest reigning champion because it would then defeat the purpose of why Reigns retained against Cody a year ago.

Of course, WrestleMania 40 is two months away and they can easily change it again if they want to. Wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last.

It's one thing if him keeping the belt will allow him to break THE record, but if he were to do that, he would be chasing Backlund and Sammartino as well, and that just isn't going to happen in this era. The longer folks make a big deal of Reigns potentially achieving the "third best" record, the longer it will continue to be a pain for many fans. Let those records remain what they are so we can get better storylines working and move on from cheap interferences constantly to end main event matches.

After doing that and getting Cody over as an even bigger babyface - crazy to think that they are going to these lengths - there is no way he leaves 'Mania without the strap.

It'll go down with Booker T/Triple H as booking malpractice and totally kill his babyface run.

As great as The Bloodline and Reigns' title run has been it's probably time to put a cap on it. Trying to get to some goofy 3rd place record to validate him further, while killing everyone else's momentum for another 7 months, is complete lunacy.

Reigns dropping the strap and losing at 'Mania (either in a three-way or one-on-one) sows the seeds for Rock (if he can get through this 'Mania unscathed) Roman at 41. Which doesn't need a title and can be Rock's retirement match.

The purpose of him retaining last year was to hold it until later this year? I don't think WWE plans that far ahead. Triple H just really likes long title reigns and doesn't seem have a plan for how exactly to end them. Same thing happened in NXT.

Outside of the 1000 days, has WWE even played up a specific number? I can't remember but I don't think so. They'll say numbers but it's more in the context of "he's been champ for this long" and not so much "he's breaking these records!" The record thing seems to be mostly fans getting ahead of themselves and assuming what's going to happen.

Damn I was entertained by that press conference segment. Almost felt like it should have happened at a live show. But whatever. It happened here and all the superstars delivered. I think was most memorable to me was when The Rock started to act like a heel. Like his old persona. Not the usual mixture of Dwayne Johnson and The Rock. That felt like the 2000's Rock in a way. Awesome stuff here with Cody bringing up some good points with his promo. Loved the way how it ended too. Got you wondering what is next. Which I am intrigued to see.

A professional wrestler doing his job? Dude is legit great at commentary. As much as I dislike him I think it’s cool they’re keeping him involved and not pretending he doesn’t exist for 6 months.

I actually usually really don’t like those kind of wrestling commentary things(the preshows are dumb) but I thought those 4 guys walked the line between kayfabe and shooting in a generally interesting way.

WWE posted the backstage video. What Rock said that was muted was “I’ll slap the teeth out of his F’in mouth”. HHH saying “you’re lucky you are too” was in response to what Roman said which I still couldn’t make out.

That press conference was honestly very exciting and well done.

Hollywood Rock showing that he just falls in as the Head of the Table, and Roman falls beneath him. I'm not sure if Roman's character even realized that yet, and I'm sure Cody will bring it up.

Cody was phenomenal as usual.

Seth, though... they really have made me not give a **** what he does at Mania or take that World Title seriously now. Went from an awesome Punk vs. Rollins match to now Seth constantly getting little bro'd. Weird choice there.

I'm so excited to see where this all goes!

I would have preferred if they just put the title on Cody last year and just let Reigns and The Rock do their own thing this year. I got a good laugh out of Reigns saying get this bum out of here to Rollins though.
