New year, same us! These forums have always had some great discussion and it's always a blast seeing what everyone else is up to!

Hello OS, it is Bard here! I typically get the ball rolling with threads for the WWE 2K series, and we are coming back at it with our Universe Mode discussion! This year we are going to go along with the edition of WWE 2K24, and I am all in for this ride!





What are everyone's plans for this year? Are you going to be rolling with the current roster with your own spin on it? Are you going to toss some legends in to spice things up and maybe do some dream matches? Maybe you are feeling nostalgic and want to do a past WWE/F* run of things! Let us know in here and let's get discussing!

Alrighty, Bard is fully into WWE 2K24 this year.


I have two Universe Modes planned... and neither will be as realistic as I have tried to do the previous few years, lol. I feel like that always burns me out so fast!

Idea 1: Just my own post WWE after WrestleMania 40. Get new Champions in the mix, and not even worry about the storylines before that. Drew is the WHC... cool, don't need to know how he beat Seth. He just did!

Idea 2: Now, this is my project this year. I am going to be doing a Referee Mode. I will create my superstar, and do a guest referee matches with them. I have more of the rules and such in the Dynasty area, but I am super excited to try that out this year!

I usually do a WCW Nitro show. I take whatever guys were in WCW when I was watching plus create a few myself. My second show is a Raw show with legends from 80s/90s when I watched WWF. My third show I do a NXT show but with any other wrestlers I like that were in TNA and other organizations. All three shows are a major and tie into one big PPV each month. I might use a WCW arena a few times throughout the year for just the WCW show.

I wanted to use the WWE Live set in my universe mode but I’m not seeing a way to do which is a bummer. I wanted to use other people on that show who don’t have a storyline.

They didn't fix that? wtf? For all the things they let us customize they also have some odd restrictions.

Anything close to a season mode in this years universe mode?

Haven't played Universe in 24 yet but I don't think they made any big changes so I'll say no. The closest is playing it under Superstar mode but that's just controlling a single wrestler thru the usual Universe setup. Not dynamic enough to be considered a season mode.

I'm gonna be continuing my Women's Universe from 2k23 that was doing on YouTube so once I'm all set up on 2k24, I'll get that going!

At Backlash, I had Damien Priest cash in and defeat Rollins for the Title.

Because of that, earlier in the show I booked a tag title match between Priest/Balor against two randoms. The randoms won.

Has anyone played the mode out the box with no issues? Or did you zero out everything and then start your universe? Heard for the past three games to have the best experience you need to zero out the allies, rivals, calendar, and start from scratch for things to work properly.

One little impression from limited time last night - I don’t think the “crowd reaction changing” option is working? I’m fairly sure I turned it off as I do annually, but the outcome of a rivalry match still flipped it. I’m not a fan of that but maybe a bug (or oversight on my part).

I’ve gone back and forth over the years on how best to play Universe. Yeah, it’s your sandbox and you can make your own program. But I kinda like NOT being the matchmaker and letting things unfold organically (as best I can).

In years past, I played with rivalries off and let the “rival actions” bring me the cutscenes. But if the rival actions are going to dictate crowd reactions, I may have to remove the actions each week. Not ideal but I’m determined to have fun with this mode this year.

I pretty much can’t have fun organically on Universe Mode. I miss story creator. The repetitive concept of rival a vs b each week kills me.

That being said I used to do a YouTube channel and do a Universe Mode there but life got too busy to edit. After that I did a thread in the 2k forums posting my weekly show results to make it a bit more fun to play but those forums have since closed…

That being said, I’ll be trying to pick that back up here on Operation Sports.

I tend to like a variety so I use legends, current, dead, alive. All superstars get put to use. After getting rosters set up I’ll be making a thread and paying attention to where each of you go with you Universe Modes as well

Can anyone tell me if you can hide the rivalry actions screen before matches and just let the AI handle it. Kills me in 23 knowing what the cutscene will be.

I just want it to happen and be surprised.

I got myself and my son created for his Universe mode. Set us up as a team for him, moves, entrance, the works etc. Got it all set up and he just using the Superstar option and using his character. He's having a blast with it! Just letting things run its course. Prior to started we added him to the rankings for Seth's title and us as a tag team rankings as well.
