    2024 Cubs Roster Resource

This is a thread for Cubs fans and roster creators to utilize for their rosters.

Before starting my franchise I always do a ton of work to the Cubs roster to make it perfect for me. This is me sharing my process.

Value is given to adding players to the 93 man roster in this order:
    1) On MLB Roster
    2) On 40-Man Roster
    3) On AAA Roster
    4) Top-10 Prospects
    5) On AA Roster AND Top-30 Prospect
    6) Top-30 Prospect below AA
    7) On AA Roster
    8) Notable players below the AA level and/or personal preference

Attached is an image of a recommended roster. I have included 26-man rosters for MLB, AAA, AA, and A plus some extra players still. Yes I know there are only 15 players in the game at A, but I like to fill it out and then pick and choose from that level. That is where there seems to be the most variability and personal preference in my process anyway.

I will be updating this periodically throughout the season.
    Keys are as follows:
    Colors=Level (Dark Blue=MLB, Light Blue=40-Man, Green=AAA, Yellow=AA, Orange=Top-30 below AA, Red=High-A, Dark Red=Low-A, White=ACL/Other)
Numbers in Brackets=Top 30 Prospect Ranking

    Bolded=Top 10 Prospect
Lined Out=Has not appeared yet in a Sony roster

Here is a list of significant missing players. If you come across any good CAPs of these players either in the vault or in a custom roster, shout out the creator and name in the comments so we can use them to update our rosters.

    SP Dan Straily (AAA)

    SP Thomas Pannone (AAA)
SP Brandon Birdsell (AA #26 Prospect)
    SP Jaxon Wiggins (#19 Prospect)
    SP Brody McCullough (#24 Prospect)
    SP Will Sanders (#29 Prospect)
    SP Connor Noland (AA)

    RP Sam McWilliams (AAA)
    RP Brad Wieck (AAA)
    RP Ben Leeper (AAA)
    RP Hunter Bigge (AAA)

    C Ali Sanchez (AAA)

    2B David Bote (AAA)
    2B Pedro Ramirez (#16 Prospect)

    3B Luis Verdugo (AA)

    SS Jefferson Rojas (#9 Prospect)
SS Fernando Cruz (#18 Prospect, Top Intl. Prospect Signing 2024) [Debatable, he is only 17 years old]
    SS Derniche Valdez (#30 Prospect)

    OF Yohendrick Pinango (A)

If you have any good information on these players to help narrow down who deserves to be on the "perfect" 2024 Cubs roster, please feel free to share. My main sources are:

and the "Cubs on Deck" Podcast

I hope to stimulate good Cubs conversation and help everyone with their Cubs rosters with this thread.

I would also argue that Nazier Mule needs a rerate as he was drafted as a two way player, but his ratings only reflect his ability to pitch.

Started my franchise with the Cubs. Had the first start of the season with Jordan Wicks. He doesn't have a Changeup in the game. It's by far his best pitch in real life. By far!!!

Any ideas how it should be rated? Velocity, control, movement???

Well, my crazy is about to show with this response. Here is every beginning and end of season ranking from Sony and the Full Minors team for the last 5 years (MLB the Show 24, 23, 22, 21, and 20).

Edit: I'm dumb, I gave Justin Steele's ratings at first. Here is Jordan Wicks. Looks like in 2021 Full Minors gave him a circle change at 0-Velocity, 59-Control, and 60-Break.

        Hope this helps

Also, just hopping on FanGraphs (https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jo...&pitchtype=all) it shows he has an average velocity of 81.3 Mph with horizontal movement of 6.5" and vertical movement of 2.3". You can massage those numbers to a more modern rating. Look around for others who throw changeups and see who has similar movement and match the break to them.

Awesome response. Thank you. I'm pretty nerdy myself.

I'll have an update to my initial post probably next weekend. I'm waiting on the first SCEA roster ratings update before I make my first roster for franchise. I'll post it up once I have it. If you know of any good caps of missing Cubs players please post them here either what roster they are on in the vault or what player creator they are under in the vault.

It's been a minute, but I have updated the depth chart image and missing players on the first post.

After the first month I have noticed SCEA has included a LOT of players from the Cubs 2023 draft class so far this season. Of the 19 players drafted remaining in the Cubs organization, so far 9 have been created and included in a roster this season. The most significant missing players from the Cubs 2023 draft class are:

RHP Jaxon Wiggins (ACL, 2nd Round, #19 Prospect)
RHP Will Sanders (Hi-A, 4th Round, #29 Prospect)
OF Alfonsin Rosario (Lo-A, 6th Round)
MIF Yahil Melendez (ACL, 7th Round)

RHP Luis Martinez-Gomez (ACL, 10th Round)
C-IF Carter Trice (ACL, 12th Round)
RHP Sam Armstrong (Hi-A, 13th Round)
RHP Grayson Moore (Hi-A, 14th Round)
RHP Ty Johnson (Lo-A, 15th Round)
RHP Nick Dean (Lo-A, 19th Round)

11th Round Pick OF Zyhir Hope was part of the trade package to the Dogers for Bush and Almonte.

So far the following have been included in a Sony roster:
IF Matt Shaw (AA, 1st Round, #3 Prospect)
IF Josh Rivera (AA, 3rd Round, #23 Prospect)
              C Michael Carico (Lo-A, 5th Round)
OF Brett Bateman (Hi-A, 8th Round)
              1B/3B Jonathon Long (Hi-A, 9th Round)
LHP Daniel Brown (ACL, 16th Round)
LHP Ethan Flanagan (ACL, 16th Round)
              1B/3B Brian Kalmer (Hi-A, 18th Round)
1B/3B Drew Bowser (ACL, 20th Round)

Nice to see the young players getting some love.
