I'm slowly working on a mostly accurate ps2 roster for that year with updated rankings cobbled together from google and madden 13, its hard, there was only one ps2 roster for that year I found online and even it has quite a few things wrong.
The default rosters were off by quite a bit due to the strike. Think I found a pretty good set of difficulty sliders off Reddit a bit back, although I think they have their sub in/out set a bit too high. I understand a RB needing a spell for a play or two but they can be out awhile tired, same with WR’s, screws you a bit on defense when your top rated DT is tired and then it’s a low OVR behind him. I suppose it could lead to interesting strategic roster overhauls in franchise mode having all decent backups when the starter is tired. Just doing a bit each day on the pc ps2 emulator version, making notes, having google tabs up, and firing up the ps3 emulator madden 13 to see what some people’s ratings would be in it since that’d basically be where they were at at the end of madden 12’s season. Matt Stafford and Cam Newton got a big bump up compared to their default m12 ratings. I still like the feel and gameplay of these ps2 maddens so much more than the newer stuff.
12 on ps2 was sadly barebones compared to the glory days of 05-07, it doesn’t have the radio show, it has newspapers tho, the franchise cpu owners make some weird decisions, multiple unneeded high ovr players when only one can be the starter, so players can tend to just sit there wasting away in some circumstances. I heard the smartest franchise cpu was probably back in 06. Despite tons of cap room especially as the years go on, they needlessly cut players they could have well afforded, and their draft logic is weird and they’ll draft multiple of the same position in the draft too. They'll needlessly draft kickers high or even multiple kickers. Controlling all 32 teams and making smarter decisions could be more immersive. Need to do a bit more reading on people that have done that, and any “house rules” for franchise they might do. If the cap goes up so much, who do you determine who to cut if you can afford more or less a star studded team anyway lol, and like who do you decide to go after in FA/how much to pay them/how many years long contract. The cpu only ever signs FAs that aren't kicker/punters to 3 year deals, and does the K/P on 1 year deals. I'm in like year 6 of an all pro ARI rebuild but all pro became too easy, thus me finding the all madden sliders I mentioned earlier I've been toying with too. Since so much is off with the m12 roster this is a pretty big undertaking. I had to create 3 players just to be backups on the DAL oline, lower OVR and release certain players that were cut their old C and RG Gurode/Leonard Davis, release a very low ovr ~50ish player here and there to make room to sign a FA lol, it's just a ton to do...
It'll be done eventually, like I said just doing a bit each day, I'm in my mid 30s now with nerve damage. It'll be cobbled together from google and players ratings from Madden 13 that would have basically been their m12 end of year rating. I don't know if the create a player limit will let me or if I can stand mentally creating players that were just backups that ended up not doing much in the league anyway, but I will definitely have the main starters all have their correct ratings and teams for the 2011-12 year. I can't waste all that time on low rated backups that were just cut after the year ended anyway and more cogs in the machine put in the next year to take their spot.Comment
