With the return of College football, what other lost sports video games do we want?

Back in 2019, I wrote this block attached here. https://forums.operationsports.com/t...to-see-return/

I laid out a few past sports title that could be fun to see come back. I wanted to revisit this and maybe change things up. I'm going to be excluding some from the list. Ones like NFL 2K that we all want back but know the reasons why we won't, I will be leaving off this time. Doesn't mean I don't want it. But I'd rather focus on sports games that we've been missing and have an easier path at returning.

And since this is inspired by the return of College Football (formally known as NCAA series), I figured I'd post it here. This game has generated so much excitement on these boards. It really is feeling like the old day so share your list here as well.

    5. March Madness - If EA finds successes (spoiler alert: they will) with College Football 25, could they return to College Basketball next? While I have another game ranked higher here, I wanted include the old March Madness series as well.

    4. NBA, NFL, FIFA Street/NFL Blitz/MLB Slugfest - These arcade titles were a lot of fun. I'd love to see them return and give us a different flair. I don't know that they ever will though. Seems more likely to have them packed as mode in the core game that is shell of what once was.

    3. Fight Night - EA's boxing series was one myself and friends had a lot of fun with. I know Undisputed is coming soon and will fill a boxing void. But I'd love to see this one come back.

    2. MVP College Baseball - College baseball seems to growing. It would be nice to see this game come back on a grander scale. Maybe they could include softball so both sports get a fun virtual game. (Or just make it's own game.) If it returns, they need to do it right like the new football title and make sure all the stadiums are included this time.

    1. College Hoops 2K - The best college basketball game of all time is hopefully the one that returns. I put March Madness in the list because it might be more realistic but this one we all want. And they could inlcude the women's game now too since it has had a surge in popularity. (Or make it is own game.)

Any I'm missing you can think of. I don't know if College Football will spark other games to come back but I'm at least hopeful for more college sports titles in the future.

I wish EA would get the NASCAR license back. I enjoyed the other NASCAR games since EA dropped out, but not near to the extent I enjoyed those EA NASCAR games.

I won’t state the obvious ones, so I’ll go different. We need a good Track and Field game. I was hoping someone would drop an Olympic game this year since the Olympics are this summer. I still have the Athens 2008 and London 2012 games for my 360 and still play them.

College basketball (or baseball) was not cancelled because of the Ed O'Bannon stuff. It was cancelled because it wasn't financially successful. I still think that would be the case today. Maybe the first new game would have some success, but I think that would wear off. If this game sells over 2 million copies, that would be the most successful NCAA game of all time. They typically hovered around 1 million back in the day. I'm telling y'all. They packaged it with Madden because they're hoping to get some of those sales transferred to CFB lol. Madden is consistently one of the top 3 most purchased games every year. No matter how much we might hate Madden on this forum, NFL is king. The game has no competition. (And no, NFL diehards will not call this competition.) So it sells like hotcakes every single year. To the tune of anywhere between 5-10 million units depending on the year. That's not even including the people who only play it through EA Play.

Nascar 98 is one of my most beloved games as a kid. Played hours and hours of it on Playstation. I haven't followed Nascar since the early 00s but I would love a great franchise/career type game like that again.

I dont follow nascar like I used to because I cant stand the stage racing they switched to.

March Madness I enjoyed because Live was my NBA jam, but I really preferred 2khoops. I loved those random emails you would get asa coach, like "Got scurvy? Ask your doctor if oranges are right for you."

Fight Night or some sort of boxing game would be my number 1. I want a good sprinkling of modern boxers and some standard legends like Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, etc.

College Basketball would be my number 2, but only if the ability to edit rosters isn't extremely nerfed like it seems it will be for the College Football game.

Outside of sports, I'l like to get Command & Conquer Generals back! One of the greatest PC games I ever played.

Ultimately, I just want competition in all sports games and I want all major college sports represented. I want NFL 2k, College Hoops 2k, EA College Baseball, and all back. Who knows if we will ever get any of these back in our lifetimes, but I wish there were a way the market could make these games profitable again.

You should check out the Undisputed boxing game. Was in early access for a long time on PC, but they've shifted their focus to console. Has a ton of licensed fighters.

I have Undisputed on Steam, but I'm looking forward to the console release. (I rarely play games on PC; I just got Undisputed to support the development.)

I think its appearance will strongly encourage EA to bring back Fight Night.

Besides Fight Night, I would love to see a college basketball game return. I prefer college video games to their pro counterparts. I find the coaching career modes more immersive.

Other than those two, a modern version of a Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam or And 1 basketball would be cool even though street basketball culture doesn't have the relevance it once did. However, the popularity of 2K's mode, with a more grounded approach, could see a nice market for such a game.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

Your Vols put a whipping on my Golden Eagles yesterday. Good luck to you guys the rest of the way. This is why I need the video game so I can pull the upset!

My suggestions are already mentioned already: I'd mainly want college basketball and no more exclusivity ie the return of NFL 2k, MLB 2k, NHL 2k, an EA NBA game (even though the recent iterations were trash it was still some competition), both EA and 2k versions of college basketball.

Some more casual games would be nice too. These aren't going to be for people on this forum likely, but I liked the Mario sports games. I know they just made a new Mario Golf for Switch but I don't have a Switch and haven't been able to try it yet. Mario Strikers on Gamecube was my favorite game for a while. The Wii version was trash, and judging by posts I've read online the Switch version isn't great either. If Mario Strikers, Golf, and Baseball were on the level of the Gamecube versions of all of those, I'd buy a Switch just for that. Mario Kart and Smash Bros would just be the icing on the cake.

In the vein of casual games, again most here probably wouldn't like them or play them but the backyard sports games were fun for me. They had football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer I think.
